The Los Molinos Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual installation of officers dinner, co-sponsored by VFW Post 3909, at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 7980 Sherwood Blvd. in Los Molinos. Cost is $13 per person and $25 per couple and includes lasagna, salad, garlic bread, dessert and light, non-alcoholic beverages. Children 10 and younger are $6. Payment is due by Monday, Jan. 27, and may be mailed to LMCOC, PO Box 334, Los Molinos, 96055. Payment may be dropped off at Umpqua Bank, Farmers Insurance and the Red Barn in Los Molinos. New officers installed Ambassadors continue outreach to local businesses The Chamber of Commerce in Red Bluff goes out of its way to make businesses, small and large, a significant part of the community. To ensure that you are receiving the best that the chamber has to offer, a small group of Ambassadors are doing big things in big ways. Each month, the Ambassadors meet at a local chamber restaurant to plan their big ideas for the month ahead. Friendship, fellowship and a feast. The new officers were installed by Mayor Gary Strack. The new President is Ronda Haywood of H&R Block, President Elect, Christina Meeds of Christina Meeds Photography, and Terry Barbo of Rabobank is Past President and the new Treasurer. The directors were also introduced and were sworn in at the same time. The new directors are Chico Avila of Corning Glass & Auto, Rosie Flores of Farmers Insurance and Wyatt Haywood, appointed for the new position of Junior Director from the high school. Jerry Crow, Lisa Garcia, Linda Hill, Steve Kimbrough, Melodie Poisson and Maria Salas are continuing to serve on the Chamber Board. A slide show of the Chamber activities for 2013 ran continuously throughout the evening. Thanks to Tom Haywood who put it all together and Christina Meed for providing the photographs. The Business of the Year award was given to DM Tech owned and operated by Richard and Melody Poisson. Volunteer of the Year went to Wyatt Haywood who is a high school student but one who has been very active in the community and Chamber events. Award plaques were given out to the winners of the Hometown Christmas Parade. • Dinner Dance - Corning VFW Post 4218, Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post 45 are hosting a Veterans Appreciation dinner and dance to commemorate the occasion of the 50th Year Anniversary of the Vietnam War. The dinner and dance is this Saturday, Jan. 25, from 5 p.m. until midnight at the Corning Veterans Memorial Hall. The cost is $15 per person. The Veterans Hall is at 1620 Solano St. in Corning. The proceeds from this dinner will go toward the Vietnam Memorial at the California Veterans Cemetery in Igo. • Benefit Concert – The Community Foundation will be sponsoring an exciting concert at the Veterans Memorial Hall Friday, Jan. 31, to raise money to reopen Rodger's Theater. There will be four bands performing. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The featured band will be Transfer Band from San Diego. Check them out on Facebook. Tickets are $10 and are on sale at the Corning Chamber of Commerce, AmericanWest Bank and Rabobank. Restoration of the theater has been on-going and the next phase is the stage and flooring. Even if you can't attend the concert we hope you will make a donation to the theater by purchasing tickets. • May Madness Car Show – The car show committee that is made up of Chamber Directors and interested citizens will be meeting tonight, Jan. 22, at the Chamber office, 1110 Solano St. to plan and organize the event. We are looking for people who have an interest in cars and would like to serve on the committee. You don't have to be a chamber member to volunteer. If you know of anyone that might be interested please let them know that we will be meeting. The date for the car show is May 2 and 3. We will begin meeting periodically at first and then as we get closer we will want to meet once a week.
