Four local Artists have agreed to show some works that are expressions of the human spirit. Free drum performance A free drum performance, film showing and discussion with Master Haitian Drummer Bonga Jean-Baptiste is scheduled 3-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Sylvester's Creekside Cafe, CSU, Chico campus. This session is prior to the performance of Bonga and the Vodou Drums of Haiti that evening in Laxson Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Artist reception today Phylis Wathen’s work will be on display at The Big Pic- ture, 857 Washington St. through April 5. A reception for Wathen is scheduled 10:30-11:30 a.m. today at the gallery. Camper Van Beethoven Indie-rock pioneers Camper Van Beethoven will be per- forming at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at El Rey Theater, 230 West 2nd St., in Chico. About 400 students in 2nd-8th grades attended from the following schools: Antelope Elementary, Berrendos Middle, Bidwell Elementary, Jackson Heights Elementary, Metteer Elementary, Vista Middle and local home school families. All of the kids play a musical instrument of some kind, from the 2nd- and 3rd-graders playing recorder to elementary and middle school band students.The program was offered free by patrons of the Tehama County Community Concert Association.
