4A – Daily News – Wednesday, February 2, 2011 Commerce business was first asked to tale on this role, the results were good by practically all accounts. This year, the planning, coordi- nation and marketing of all the western-themed com- munity events week-plus preceding the Red Bluff Round-Up in mid-April can be even better. Increased commu- nity event atten- dance by local folks and visitors -- and even greater pre- rodeo excitement -- is the goal. Some weeks ago, Corky Kramer, representing the Round-Up board, asked the Chamber to again per- form this coordinative role and to support the funding, production and distribution of another edition of a printed "program of community events" two weeks out from Round- Up. The "program" will again be distributed in a full run of the Daily News, with an overrun to distribute copies in hotels, restaurants and visitor information centers. Copies will also be mailed to non-subscrib- ing household in Red Bluff promot- ing all the events leading up to rodeo weekend itself, the 90th edi- & tion of the Red Bluff Round-Up, one of the most famous rodeo events in the nation. Enter legendary local rodeo stock provider John Growney, and his RB high school friend Linda Durrer. John and Linda met with Chamber CEO Dave Gowan and Chamber Director and Events Chair Lisa Hansen, sharing their ideas about how once successful pre-Round-Up events from 30+ years ago might be revived. Also how local groups producing stable and successful community events could facilitate the cross-promotion of other events on the docket, or support and assist in finding addi- tional local-groups to champion new or revived events preceding Round-Up. In a subsequent meet- ing with Kramer, Growney, Durrer and Chamber staff and volunteer leadership, it became a plan. The Chamber will facilitate a pre-Round-Up community events coordination and planning meeting from 10:00 am to Noon on Wednesday, February 2 – a week from today – at the Farm Bureau OSHA The Tehama County Employer Advisory Council enterprise Chamber commits to ‘11 Days of Round-Up’ Last year, when the Chamber building at 275 Sale Lane in Red Bluff.
