She believes that, aside from her studies, joining the Colorado Alpha Chapter was one of the best decisions she made in college. "My experience as a Pi Phi has had a lifelong impact. There were so many talented and bright women in our house. They were great students, wonderful friends, and they knew how to balance achieving goals with having fun," says Cyndi. "It was a great environment for me." Cyndi says that being in an environment with overachievers was great for her because she always managed to get her school work done but made a lot of great memories along the way. Some of her favorite Pi Phi memories include recruitment week, late night runs to Dunkin' Donuts, grilled cheese and tomato soup lunch on Fridays, watching Dynasty in the TV room every week and all-night studying with sisters during finals week while drinking endless diet Pepsi and ordering calzones. Cyndi appreciates the important life lessons that Pi Phi taught her — having goals, giving back to the community, spending time with friends and enjoying life. Cyndi Chase '84 with her son, Christopher, at CU Parent's Weekend. After graduation, Cyndi started her career at ABC News in Denver. She then put work on hold to be a stay-at-home mom for her two sons, Michael and Christopher. Now that they are both college age she has returned to work full-time at Merrill Lynch. While taking Christopher on a college visit to CU, Cyndi went to the Colorado Alpha Chapter house for a tour. "It was so fun for me to meet some of the women living in the house — the same kind of friendly women I remembered from living there," says Cyndi. "It brought back lots of great memories and it was then I realized that the house was in need of some substantive renovation." Choosing to donate to the campaign was an easy decision for Cyndi because she wanted to contribute to the chapter that had such a great impact on her. "General maintenance and updating can't be overlooked or put off for too long. Our house at 890 11th Street is a huge asset and, in my opinion, very important to the strength of the chapter at CU. If we don't take care of it, I believe it will have a negative impact on the future for Pi Phi," says Cyndi. "I hope other young women enjoy the experience I had — in an updated environment." Cyndi loves keeping in touch with many Pi Phi sisters. She lives in Kenilworth, Illinois. Email: cyndichase@comcast.net
