Angel Update Colorado alpha fall 2013 rado Alpha Is Important to You ber Why Colo Remem W hen we were invited to join Pi Phi, we felt so special because we knew that we were joining an important and selective organization. Each year as Colorado Alpha recruits new angels, we as alumnae look back and remember our first moment knowing that we had been invited by the best. We forever hold on to the pride of being a Pi Phi at CU, and want women to continue to feel the same way we do. As a result of your generous gifts, we have raised $276,845—taking us more than halfway to our $400,000 goal! With 8.1 percent participation to date we can only imagine what will be accomplished as more sisters join our efforts. Choosing to give is a big decision; but choosing to be a member at Colorado Alpha was an even bigger one, and giving is a way to celebrate our membership in Pi Beta Phi. If you have yet to show your financial support to the campaign, we encourage you to consider the influences you do not see on the donor list and ask her to join you in supporting Colorado Alpha. While we are so grateful to the 179 donors, there is more to be done and we look to those who have already given to help inspire those who have yet to participate. Colorado Alpha has had on your life. Pi Phi played a pivotal role in our college experience, and as alumnae we are still benefitting from the lessons and relationships gained through our membership. Sisters, we ask you to think about your career, your best friend, your family… would these be the same if Pi Phi had not been part of your life? To those who have already given, thank you! You have helped us achieve many things and we hope we can count on your continued support. Please consider seeking out a sister whose name The pride and connection we all feel toward Pi Beta Phi and the Colorado Alpha Chapter will undoubtedly pull us together to raise the remaining $123,155. We hope as you look back, and recall your best Pi Phi memories with your sisters; you will want to become a part of this movement. Please use the enclosed pledge card to make your commitment today. Remember, all gifts directly impact Colorado Alpha's mission and a tax-deductible option is available through the Foundation. We are proud to count you among our growing list of supporters. Loyally, The Colorado Alpha Campaign Leadership Board Lasting Charm of Pi Phi House Mirrored by Impressive Undergraduates Linda "Ponce" Gebhardt '66 Encourages Sisters to Visit Colorado Alpha L inda "Ponce" Gebhardt '66 served as a volunteer on the Chapter House Corporation Board for Colorado Alpha for 10 years. She believes in the goals and the mission of the sorority and wanted to help keep Pi Phi a top chapter at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Although she no longer serves on the board, she remains involved with the chapter, recently visiting the house to see final rehearsals on the eve of recruitment. "I couldn't believe the enthusiasm and excitement on the beautiful, fresh faces of the girls as they rehearsed their songs and dances," says Ponce. "Although it had been over 45 years since I had done the same thing the memories came rushing back, and I was right there singing with them. The bond, the feeling of belonging, the feeling of love was right there. Inside: Thank You, Generous Sisters 2-3 "I thought back to the days I lived there and to the years which have gone by and where life has taken each of us and the challenges we have faced along the way. It is true, along the way of life and as we grow from girls to young women, onto becoming older women, there are Pi Phis we meet along the way—perhaps just when we need to. There is an instant connection and sense of what they are about, and a genuine, new friendship is formed," says Ponce. While visiting the chapter she reminisced on going through recruitment and remembered the first time she knew she wanted to be a Pi Phi. "There was just an instant feeling of connection with the women of Pi Phi as I went through alumna spotlight 3 (Continued on Page 6) Welcome, New Members 5
