Under the leadership of Vice President of Recruitment Mike Opera '14, the chapter was able to recruit 42 high-quality members. We also hosted the Balanced Leader Banquet, where scholarship funds were awarded to four new members who displayed outstanding achievements prior to coming to SDSU. In the spring semester, we renewed our passion for community service with more than 2,300 cumulative hours as a chapter. While this number was more than enough to rank us first in all SDSU campus organizations, our brothers have raised the bar, setting a goal of 3,500 hours this fall. This summer, some of our brothers participated in outstanding community service projects. Brett Nielson '14 and Patrick Gallagher '14 rode bicycles from Santa Barbara to San Diego for the C.U.R.E. ride. Other brothers traveled to a poverty-stricken area in Peru to help rebuild housing for local citizens. Matt Alegria '15 traveled to Africa to spread spirituality to people who have seen horrors beyond our imagining. These combined hours, along with the chapter's Adopt-a-Highway and Puppy Adoption partnerships, will help us reach our goal. This fall, our goal is to obtain more outside help to improve the chapter. We have recruited a new faculty fellow, Jessica Savalla, who will help members with anything academic related, like scholarship applications, graduate school preparation, and applying for honors societies. We have also been lucky enough to recruit a new parent's club president, Kaylynn Wilkenson. We look forward to working with her to continue our outstanding parent support. Our parent's day barbecue was a great success and allowed us to share what SigEp is all about to our new members' parents. Overall, Cal Delta is pushing to become the gold standard of fraternal life. One way we're doing this is by hosting SigEp's Life After College, a program designed to help upperclassmen prepare for their respective careers. We will continue to push for a higher GPA, more community service, and better performance in intramurals. We will continue to develop scholars, leaders, athletes, and gentlemen. More than anything, we will do what our forefathers set out to do: be different.
