3 Gamma Xi Anchor Dinah Doty Hays '68 Shows DG Love at Every Stage of Life t was a chance encounter for Dinah Doty Hays '68 the summer before starting at Texas Tech that opened up the world of Delta Gamma and the friendships and memories that would come from years of involvement. I "When my best friend and I visited Tech for freshman pre-registration, we dropped by the dorm room we were to have when school started. The room happened to be occupied by my future DG big sis, Becky Harp Critz '65, and the DG recruitment chairman, Nadine Nayfa Craddick '66. Becky and Nadine were absolutely charismatic, and we fell in love with them and the pictures on their bulletin boards that reflected their love of Delta Gamma." The size and energy of Tech were a perfect fit for Dinah and she dove into her experience on campus and with Delta Gamma. "I thought Delta Gammas were the most beautiful and special group of women I had ever met! I was so surprised they wanted me to join, and I was so proud to wear that anchor badge everywhere I went on campus." Her love for DG poured into recruitment, theme parties, playing pranks on other sisters, and the little sisters she gained, Patti England Summerall '69 from Midland and Pat Lambert '70 from Lubbock. Her enthusiasm led her to serve as vice president of communications and she even helped raise funds for the original DG house on Greek Circle. Now, living in Dallas, Dinah still finds herself with an enthusiasm for DG and Texas Tech. As an alumna, she held the position of president and many other offices in her alumnae chapter; served on Delta Gamma's International Council (as Vice President Finance); is a supporter of Delta Gamma Foundation; and volunteered as Alpha Upsilon – SMU chapter operations adviser, among many other positions. Most recently she served as the regional finance specialist for chapters in Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. As Dinah dedicated her time and talents to Delta Gamma, DG poured back into her life as well. The songs she sang as an undergraduate were sung to her at her wedding and to her daughter, Jessica Hays Burkholder '97, at her wedding. "Delta Gamma developed traits in me I didn't think I had, pushed me into activities I would have never attempted on my own, and has continued to invest in developing my leadership skills as an alumna." Dinah and her husband, Rodney, a Pike from Texas Tech, return to campus each year for at least one game in Lubbock.
