SUCCESSFUL RECRUITMENT THANKS TO ALUMNAE AND VOLUNTEERS House Corporation Enjoys Reconnecting with Alumnae I t was so exciting to see all our new members climb out of TWO busses before converging on their new anchor mates to enjoying dinner and dessert at the lodge. This year the Texas Tech Panhellenic promoted a no frills recruitment and the Gamma Xi members did a fantastic job of adapting to the new rules and making the lodge look festive. Our chapter is so creative. We had about 50 chapter members and alumnae show up to help clean the lodge that Friday after recruitment and before the bid day festivities began. Everything looked great and back in place in time for the potential new members (pledges for us old-timers!) to arrive. Being a reluctant empty nester, I stayed at the lodge to help with bid day. It was so much fun, but we were wall to wall. There were tables outside, inside, and in the living room—there were people everywhere! I was also very excited to learn that my Odessa Junior League long-time friend's daughter was one of our new members! We are such an amazing group of women and all connected in so many ways. This year, the house corporation purchased electronic voting devices for the chapter. It is really cool when 100 different women tell you 100 different ways how much they appreciated these devices. I was told it cut roll call time down to nothing and actually saved the women about three to four hours during membership selection night! Delta Gamma is everywhere! I work on the TTU campus, and it is great fun to see our pretty, young women walking around in our letters. Two of our members worked in the institutional advancement office and were great student workers, helping to set up the $1 Billion Celebration Gala. I was so proud of them, but it doesn't stop there. Our beautiful and talented president, Nichole Birdsong '10, has been nominated for Homecoming queen. And the list goes on and on. It is a great time to be a Delta Gamma and even a better time to be Gamma Xi sisters. I have recently been trying to reach out to several women who were in the chapter during my time. It is very fun and exciting to see how successful our alumnae have become! The Gamma Xi Chapter of Delta Gamma is on the move. I welcome you to jump on board and enjoy the journey with us. You won't be disappointed.
