The DePauw Phi Indiana Zeta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta fall 2013 House Improvements Impress DPU Campus P hi Delta Theta at DePauw is ascendant thanks to the hard work and dedication of undergraduates and alumni alike. This past academic year emboldened the undergraduates to expect more out of each other and the Chapter while alumni and staff continued facility upgrades. As you'll see in the Chapter report, our undergraduate Brothers had a great 2012-13 with both Chapter and individual accomplishments. Alumni and parents have been generous with their time, treasures, and talents, which have paved the way toward significant improvements to the house at 446 Anderson Street. Speaking of pavement, the new campus entrance is now our front yard, creating additional pride and responsibility. Houseparents Brenda and Gary Terrell supervised summer projects and have returned to the kitchen and grounds this fall to get the boys off to a healthy start. Pictures alone can't describe how much better the house looks these days. Last year the card room, library, and a quiet study room were remodeled. The TV or "bum" room and Chapter room also saw upgrades to furniture and finishes. Our curb appeal was greatly enhanced with landscaping and a brick and mortar maintenance project. This summer, the 51-year-old "new ad" courtyard was completely removed and replaced with a colorized pooldeck smooth surface complete with stamping, railings, and an imprinted fraternity badge. We also restored the main foyer. Our 1926 wood floors, covered in carpeting for 35 years, have been refinished, the fireplace mantel replaced, and all walls and lighting were updated. In the greater DePauw community our alumni Brothers continue to contribute in many ways. Bill Caskey '78 once again was the favorite at the sophomore institute for careers. Phis are active on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, and staff members give back to their alma mater each and every day. You should be proud to be a Phi. We hope you'll stop by when back on campus to see why. Yours in the Bond, Chris "CJ" Johnston '83 Chapter Advisory Board Chairman cl.johnston@yahoo.com Your Donations Continue to Improve 446 Anderson St.
