This year, you can help commemorate our veterans by coming out to view the 13th Annual Veterans Day Parade, hosted by the Cumberland County Veterans Council and the City of Fayetteville, on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. on Hay Street. The theme this year is honoring Purple Heart  Heart Association. Attendees are encouraged to wear their red, white and blue and the Cumberland County Veterans Council is asking all Purple Heart recipients to wear their purple hearts. Organizer Don Talbot reported that just about every military association participates. Also, a large contingency of active duty troops from Ft. Bragg and Pope Air Force Base and the 82nd Division Airborne Band will be participating, as well as numerous bands and JROTC groups from local high schools. The parade will begin at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum (ASOM) at the intersection of Robeson and Hay Streets and continue down Hay and Person Streets to Cool Spring Street. A reviewing stand will be located at the corner of Hay and Ray streets. The Cameo Art House Theatre, with its red velvet opera style chairs, gourmet snacks and treats and the best independent and mainstream movies, will spoil you for any other movie theatre.
