Taize services offered in Red Bluff Taizé worship, an ecumenical service combining prayer, hymns and contemplation, resumes at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Establishing a monthly Taizé Prayer service in Red Bluff had long been a dream of Sister Gloria Heese and Sister Janel Sawazki, members of the Religious Order of the Sisters of Mercy, an international community of Roman Catholic women. In 2006, the sisters engaged in the spirit of "ecumenicalism" by inviting fellow believers Jeanne Woodstrup from St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Sandy Borror from the Presbyterian Church of Red Bluff to begin planning the first Taizé services in Red Bluff. Taizé Prayer services were initially offered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church during Advent and Lent 2006. The fol- lowing year, Taizé Prayer was offered at the Presbyterian Church during Lent. The hopes and prayers of the Sisters' dream of monthly Taizé prayer services in Red Bluff had become a reality. Taizé Prayer is co-sponsored by the congregations of the Presbyterian Church of Red Bluff, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and the Tehama County United Methodist Ministry. For more information call 5275205 or email stpeters@sbcglobal.net. More information about Taizé Prayer and the Taizé community may be found online at www.taize.fr. St. Peter's is at 510 Jefferson St., on the corner of Jefferson and Elm streets. For more information please contact 5275205 or stpeters@sbcglobal.net. Visit the website at www.saintpetersepiscopal.org. Goal met The Pastor Appreciation Committee wishes to thank everyone who has made contributions for the 2013 Pastor Appreciation Dinner on Sept. 13.
