Friday is Special People day at the Tehama District Fair. The day honors people with disabilities who receive free admission to the Fair until 5 p.m. As many as 200 folks attend special people day. They enjoy the carnival rides, music, exhibits, strolling clowns and free lunch. They also can have free face painting done by the Doris Remund family. The devel- opmentally disabled look for- ward to the fair and the chance to hang out with their friends. Special People Day was creat- ed by Kevin and Cathy Brun- nemer more than 20 years ago. By JULIE ZEEB DN Staff Writer The Tehama District Fair will be turn- ing 90 years young when it opens its doors at 2 p.m. Thursday with the grand-open- ing ceremony at 5 p.m. at the front gates. “It’s going to be a very local, very fun Tehama County fair,” said Fair CEO Mark Eidman. Celebrating with the theme of ‘Big Cheers For 90 Years’ the fair will be launching a new addition, Tehama Trails Marketplace, which offers locally pro- duced food products including oils and wines in the fairground cafeteria. The fair has partnered with several organizations including Slow Food Shasta Cascade, Tehama Trails, Shasta Cascade Viticulture and other local chefs and pro- ducers to put it on. “It’s time to bring agriculture back to the family table,” Eidman said.
