Page 3 SIG SPOTLIGHTS TERRY CAMPBELL '64 "SigEp was a strong Chapter when I enrolled, and it stood out to me because many of the brothers were athletes. During my time in the Chapter, I served as a trainer for new members, helping them understand what it meant to be a SigEp and encouraging them to get involved in campus life. I was active in athletics myself, spending five years in the athletic department as both a football and track athlete. After earning my mining degree, I worked in underground mining at 11,000 feet for a year before entering the military. I served two years, including an all-expenses-paid trip to Vietnam in my second year. SigEp was more than just a Fraternity. It was a well-rounded, social, and supportive chapter. We were a great mix of guys with a shared commitment to the school's athletic program. If I ever had academic questions, I knew I could turn to someone in the Chapter. That balance between brotherhood, athletics, and academics was what truly made SigEp stand out." DAREK BRUZGO '95 "My family emigrated from Poland in 1987, so when I arrived at the Colorado School of Mines in 1989, I didn't know anything about fraternities. Many of my classmates were SigEps, and we became friends. In my sophomore year, I decided to join the Fraternity. I enjoyed spending time with my brothers, but SigEp also offered valuable academic support. Mines was a tough school, and having access to upperclassmen in my major gave me the mentoring and advice I needed. I eventually served as Chapter secretary and appreciated the leadership experience. I still keep in touch with many of my pledge brothers, and we've remained lifelong friends. Now, as a business owner, I even network with some of them professionally. Without SigEp, maintaining those connections would have been much harder. For anyone considering joining SigEp, my advice is simple: focus on building your network of true friends."
