Undergraduates Share Spring Successes Serving, Growing, Leading COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES SUMMER 2025 The Stope C olorado Delta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon had a successful and fulfilling spring semester. The Chapter maintained its commitment to academic excellence, achieving a semester GPA of 3.36 and a cumulative GPA of 3.38. Both scores are well above the campus average of 3.27 and the FSL average of 3.17! ▶ CLA AND DISTRICT RETREAT The semester provided many opportunities for leadership growth as our new executive board settled into their roles. In early February, the entire board traveled to Oklahoma City to take part in the Carlson Leadership Academy. The weekend offered valuable insights into running a successful Fraternity and allowed the board to connect with other Chapters and share ideas. Later in February, the executive board also participated in a district retreat hosted by our district governor, Joel Saslaw. Executive board members from Colorado Gamma (CSU) and Wyoming Alpha (University of Wyoming) joined us in Golden for a weekend of collaboration and growth. ▶ BETTERING OUR COMMUNITY This spring, the brothers of Colorado Delta made it a priority to give back to both the Mines community and the surrounding Golden and Lakewood areas. Conor Duniway '26 led a booth at the annual Mines Fresh Check Day called Paint Your Heart Out, where students could express their mental health experiences through painting. Many brothers also volunteered at the Lakewood Earth Day Festival, helping with setup and teardown, an opportunity coordinated by Bradley Wasnaik '27. Finally, to help students de-stress during finals week, we handed out free popsicles along with study tips and de-stress strategies on campus. ▶ STAYING HEALTHY Several brothers embraced the principle of Sound Body by competing in the Mines Triathlon, which consisted of a 500-meter swim, a 6-mile bike ride, and a 1.5-mile run. David Karibian '26, who is training for an Ironman later this year, finished an impressive fourth place overall. ▶ CELEBRATING BROTHERHOOD Our spring semi-formal was a highlight of the semester. VP of Programming Hayden Crawford '26 organized a trip to watch the Colorado Avalanche take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at Ball Arena. The Avs secured a 7-4 victory, and we capped off the night with a memorable group photo at center ice. ▶ CREATING NEW SIGEPS Spring recruitment was another major success. VP of Recruitment Rowan Welch '27 led an outstanding event, welcoming 10 new members. We also hosted a 365 Recruitment event mid-semester that brought in three additional brothers, bringing our total to 37 for the 2024-25 school year, exceeding the recruitment goal set by national! The semester brought countless memories that the brothers of Colorado Delta will cherish for a lifetime. We look forward to all the exciting experiences and opportunities the summer and fall semesters will bring!
