Page 2 P lease join us in celebrating Benjy Kamph '95-1440 being awarded Lambda Chi Alpha's Order of Merit. This richly deserved honor recognizes the leadership Benjy has provided over the past two decades as a guiding force in the development of AΛ of ΛXA's student leaders. Serving for the last 3 years as High Pi, Benjy has had an unwavering commitment to uplifting and mentoring undergraduate Brothers. Benjy's approach to servant leadership springs from his genuine desire to give back. Benjy shares: "My goal is for our undergrads to receive the same great experience that I had as a student. Advising, coaching and mentoring bring me great satisfaction. Alumni involvement as advisors is key to Lambda Chi ensuring that our undergrads and future leaders are moving in the right direction, stay challenged, and have quick access to people who've been through some of the same situations they are experiencing. It is an honor to be a part of the rudder that keeps the ship sailing in the right direction." Balancing family, career, and devoted service to ΛXA, is remarkable. Benjy mentors Brothers through retreats, one-on-one sessions, and informal gatherings—providing the steady, lifelong support & guidance that shapes individuals and strengthens our fraternity's legacy. For twenty years, he's also served as Ritual Advisor at every initiation, guiding hundreds of new members (including his son, Bryson Kamph '22-2182) into our lifelong brotherhood. Together with Dave Leathers (his mentor), Benjy's advising has helped drive Alpha Lambda's competitive success—earning the Phoenix Award, Grand High Alpha, and McIntosh Awards— and in August 2024, our chapter received ΛXA's first-ever Alumni Advisory Board Award. Most impressive is that this success has been achieved despite our 1964-chapter house reaching the end of its useful life. Looking ahead, Benjy's vision for a new Chapter House is bold. He explains: "The new Chapter House is a game changer for us! We will no longer have to continually address the 'elephant in the room' - a Chapter House which has exhausted its full useful life & is too small for the large size of our Brotherhood on campus." "The new Chapter House will transform how undergraduate Brothers live, eat, study, and gather—setting the stage for enhanced recruitment of young men of character and continuing the tradition of developing great leaders. The building plans are already rallying alumni and generating excitement among the current members. This lays the foundation to cement our Brotherhood's impact on OSU's campus far into our 2nd century." Benjy's Order of Merit recognition is a testament to a life of service, innovation, and mentorship. His truest legacy lies in the countless lives he's touched and the enduring spirit of servant leadership he's instilled in future generations. J. Benjamin "Benjy" Kamph '95-1440 J. Providing Construction Leadership Providing Construction Leadership The new Chapter House will feature modern study and living areas, efficient bathrooms, expansive gathering and covered outdoor spaces, an industrial-grade kitchen, energy- efficient HVAC and secure electronic access. These features represent an innovative departure from OSU's century-old Greek houses. Built with industrial-quality materials, it's designed to serve today's undergraduate brothers—and many generations to come. Chad's focused drive allows him to shepherd projects from the vision stage to a ribbon cutting. His goal is to deliver projects on time, at or below budget and to exacting standards. His extensive experience combined with his leadership saves time and resources. Chad's perspective: "Problems will pop up, but they aren't setbacks— they're opportunities for creative solutions." As a proud Lambda Chi, Chad fully embraces the ΛXA's values and commitment to service. His personal connection further deepened when his son, Nate Bettesworth '18-1986 became a member during his undergraduate years. Chad's lived ΛXA experience fuels his commitment to creating spaces that encourage growth, collaboration, and leadership among our undergraduate brothers. He is excited about delivering a facility that respects tradition while meeting the needs of modern fraternal life. His proven "get-it-done" ethos and deep-rooted dedication make him an ideal leader for this transformative build.
