MAINE ALPHA - UNIVERSITY OF MAINE SUMMER 2025 RED DOOR NEWS T he Maine Alpha Chapter is thriving at 375 College Avenue. The facility on the other hand is not, and is in need of some Brotherly Love. We recently completed crucial work last summer, including a roof replacement and life-safety system improvements, but the decades of wear-and-tear are still an issue. Simply put, our house needs to be brought to modern living standards so our alumni and upperclassmen can focus on mentoring current and future brothers. After years of diligently investigating our home's future, it is clear a large remodel of the chapter house is necessary to better provide for our membership and its needs. This project prioritizes efficient facility management, helping balance our home so our younger brothers can become Balanced Men. To begin this new phase for Maine Alpha, we are excited to announce A Tradition of Excellence – The Campaign for Maine Alpha, which will help us address deferred maintenance, support ongoing upkeep and modernize 375 College Avenue to meet the needs of our undergraduate brothers while aligning with our values and future aspirations. We asked our most consistent alumni supporters and volunteers (including the AVC Board, who already donate their time) to lead the way in this campaign. Their early support resulted in just over $1 million in pledges already. Early pledges and the AVC's wise financial management over the last 20 years allowed us to already complete a new shingled roof, new electrical service and fire-suppression upgrades. Work will continue over the next few summers to minimize chapter disruption; we aim to finish in summer 2027. Here are just a few of the projects we plan to complete: • Equip the conference room for virtual interactions with alumni, group study sessions and chapter committee meetings. • Modernize mechanical, electrical, plumbing, internet and fire- safety systems. • Refresh landscaping and upgrade the library into a state of the art classroom for lectures, group discussion and study. • Create a leadership and scholarship endowment to fund the chapter's involvement in SigEp and UMaine leadership events in perpetuity. The project is off to a strong start, and now we need your assistance to reach or exceed our campaign goal of $1.25 million. You will soon receive additional information on the campaign plans and status and how you can join the effort. Maine Alpha is one of the strongest SigEp chapters nationwide, and our brothers deserve a home to reflect that. Fraternities like ours help establish lifelong connections for young men, just like it did for you and your brothers. Today's members consistently illustrate the strength and quality of our brotherhood. If we act now, we help them maintain a culture where students excel academically, professionally and personally. Please do your part to invest in Maine Alpha, ensuring our brotherhood has a house that feels like home.
