T his spring, the chapter initiated 13 young men into the brotherhood! We asked a few of them what being a Sigma Chi means to them: "Being a Sigma Chi means being part of something greater than myself. It means being part of a lifelong brotherhood rooted in the values of our founders. It's about striving to live with integrity, lead by example, and support my brothers through every challenge." –Jack Canalori '28 "I've only had the honor of being a Sigma Chi for a little under a month now, but it has already given me a purpose that I could have never imagined. Recently, my family has been struck pretty difficultly with cancer, so when I had the opportunity to be a big part of Derby Days, I stepped right up. That one week alone has to have been one of the most fulfilling weeks of my life. I buzzed and bleached my hair for the first time to raise money (and I actually don't hate it.) During one of the most difficult times of my own family, my new family stepped up, giving me all the support I needed and a purpose through struggle. I've just been elected as the Recruitment Chair for next year, and I couldn't be more excited. I cannot wait to instill the values and love that Sigma Chi has given me in the next group of Sigs." –Austin Ruthkowski '28 "Sigma Chi has profoundly impacted my life in just a few months, giving me a sense of belonging and personal growth in my short time here at RPI. My time with the fraternity has been truly informative, from understanding our chapter history to meeting every brother through our connections. From the start, my fellow brothers have displayed a deep understanding of my aspirations, particularly my goal to walk-on to the D3 soccer team. Now that I have been accepted to walk-on with the team this upcoming preseason, their support means even more. Recruitment and rushing were invaluable, teaching me life skills such as time management and networking, all while allowing me to pursue both my athletic and fraternal goals without compromising either. This level of support and brotherhood fosters an environment of continuous growth, rooted in Sigma Chi's ideals. Proud to be a Sig." –Harry Sullivan '28 "To me, being a Sigma Chi means committing to live by the seven virtues, not just when others are watching but also when no one is watching. It's about holding myself to a higher standard, striving every day to embody the values of friendship, justice, and learning and being a role model in my community. Being a Sigma Chi is about having integrity in life and committing to ideas and beliefs that you believe are right in the world." –Jason Zheng '28 Top: (from left) Ryan Ing '25, Tiago Da Costa Campos '25, John Bianco '25, Dominick Celeste '25, Vincent Baldassano '25, Izik Bakhshiyev '25, Charles Clarke '25, Carlton Cummiskey '25, Shawn Vembenil '25, Scott Sigmund '25, Machlin Fellman '25, and Lily Mikell '25 (previous Sweetheart).
