DELTA PSI CHAPTER OF SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY AT RPI SUMMER 2025 T his April, ahead of the 75th anniversary of Delta Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi on December 2, 2025, alumni gathered in Troy, New York, to celebrate a momentous occasion! There was a whole weekend of events planned and led by John "Leroy" Pfaff '71, Bob "Ruff" Hutnick '71, Bill "Evil" Hanson '73, Colin Haynes '10, Erik Fish '27, and myself. We kicked off the weekend with a Band Party, hosted by Bob "Beo" Bedard '75, which had great attendance and allowed alumni to catch up with each other. Saturday morning, the undergraduates hosted a Ritual Exemplification for the alumni, followed by an Open House at the Pomeroy Chapter House. The Open House had food cooked by house Chef Mike Volpe, and brothers who have passed on to Chapter Eternal were honored in a White Rose Ceremony. Thanks to Leroy's efforts reaching out, there was a great turnout of our alumni that have been honored by the International Fraternity. Awardees of the Seven Lights award, Order of Constantine award, and Significant Sig award were recognized and thanked for their contributions to the chapter and community. We wrapped the weekend up with a banquet at the Hilton Garden Inn, where there were many special guests from RPI and Sigma Chi International. From RPI, we had Rob Hradsky, Vice Provost; Matt Ter Molen, VP of Institute of Advancement; Charlie Potts, Director of the Student Union, and Ryan Keytack, Dean of Students. RPI Provost Rebecca Doerge was also in attendance and gave the keynote speech at the banquet, where she recognized the impact of Greek Life on the RPI community. Ryan Temby, Sigma Chi Grand Pro Consul, also joined us for the Open House and banquet, and gave a speech where he presented Delta Psi's newest Significant Sig, Jim O'Brien '85, with his certificate and pin. Adding to the celebration, house chef Mike Volpe was also recognized by alumni and undergraduates, as this year is his 10th working for the house. Mike has had a tremendous impact on the undergraduates, and the effort he puts into the house is much appreciated by all that have lived there over the past 10 years. And I need to loop back to the great honor that Jim O'Brien was recognized for in March. Jim is the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Children's Mercy Kansas City, and along with being the Chapter's newest Significant Sig, he is also the current President of Pinewoods Educational Foundation. If you were in attendance for the 75th anniversary weekend celebration, we hope you enjoyed your time back at the Chapter House with fellow alumni! And if you missed it, we hope to see you this fall at RPI's Homecoming weekend October 10-12, 2025, and—looking ahead—at Delta Psi's 80th anniversary in 2030!
