| | | | | | Scholarship Campaign cont. | | | | | | And thirdly, the response from individual chapter members and in many cases their parents have been fantastic. Not only is the program helping to reduce student debt (albeit to a small de- gree), but many recipients have mentioned the potential of winning a scholarship is strongly motivating them to im- prove their grades. Additionally, every recipient reaches out to the designated alumni sponsor of their scholarship and many of those letters have been heart- felt, heartwarming and highly appreciated by donors. As we expected, we have made a few tweaks to the program during the first year. The most notable is while we still want to recognize the brothers who are consistently performing well academically (3.5 and above), we are put- ting much more emphasis on recognizing the brothers who had not performed as well in the past but are making sig- nificant academic improvement. The first group sets the needle so to speak, but the second group moves the needle, and both groups are vital to strong overall chapter academ- ic performance. For the first and second quarters, we have awarded a total of 63 scholarships in these two categories. This summer we will evaluate applications for chapter, campus and local community leadership scholar- ship awards and present those along with eligible third quarter academic recipients in early September (graduating seniors are not eligible for awards their last quarter). To those brothers who have already stepped up to support this program, we cannot thank you enough! To those who have yet to be contacted, please don't wait for our small team to reach out. Please contact me and join so many other alumni who are helping Gamma Gamma main- tain its position as the premier fraternity on campus and one of the most outstanding chapters in Alpha Tau Omega nationally!
