| | | Gamma Gamma Scholarship Campaign | | | As we start the second year of the Gamma Gamma Scholarship Program, several things are clear: First and foremost, the program is having a significant impact on chapter academic focus and that is translating into better academic performance. Just over two years ago, the chapter toggled between fifth and sixth of the eight fraternities in overall aca- demic performance, and after the first quarter this past fall we were third and within very close proxim- ity to being second in overall cumulative average! There was definitely some backslide in the second quarter as the new initiates began to realize how dif- ficult freshman year can be at Rose, but the chapter is working with those brothers to help them understand what it really takes to succeed academically. The Board of Trustees is also working with chapter lead- ership to identify any other actions that can be taken to help academic performance as well. I would be re- miss to suggest that the scholarship program is respon- sible for all this improvement as investments in aca- demic facility improvements in the house and more fo- cus on academics in general by chapter leadership and the Board of Trustees are also contributing significant- ly. Secondly, alumni support for the program has been as good as anticipated, and each quarter we are bringing on more donors, particularly as many generous brothers have now completed their commitments to the capital campaign. With the chapter growing to more traditional size now post-COVID, we need and are tar- geting a significant increase in annual expendable contributions this year to $150K from the $112K we raised in 2024. We already have over $133K commit- ted towards that 2025 goal. This amount also allows us to manage cash flow across calendar and academic years. Contributions to the endowment are also going very well, with over $304K already contributed in just over one year and over $550K already donated or committed through the first five years. Additionally, we have $575K in future estate carve-outs committed to the endowment. Our ten-year endowment goal re- mains $2MM+ and ultimately $3MM to sustain a $150K annual award program in 2025 dollars and we are off to an excellent start. The strong contri- butions to the annual expendable account should al- low us to let the endowment grow through both con- tributions and investment earnings for several years, which will help the endowment grow faster.
