Our goal was to develop and exe- cute an impactful signature event that would involve the whole chapter and most importantly would make a signifi- cant financial impact on our favorite char- ity. As you will see below, the results and impact were far better than anyone initial- ly expected, and we have a platform for an event that we expect will only grow in impact going forward. The Charity: Rook's Resources has been providing children's books, Mother's/ Father's Day gift baskets, holiday toys and dinners at Ronald McDonald Chari- ties for several years to families with pre- term babies in NICU's at Indianapolis hospitals. The charity recognizes Thomas and Shecara Reives' late son Rook William. Carmine's Convoy is named for their other son, 7-year-old Carmine Acie, who required extensive NICU services after being born in 2017 with his twin brother, Rook. cont. pg. 2 TAU TALK Alpha Tau Omega · Gamma Gamma Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology · Spring 2025 The Rebirth of Gamma Gamma Philanthropy As some of you may know, since the COVID pandemic, our chapter has struggled to recapture our philanthropic emphasis. Our clear goal this year was to substantially increase our impact on our local com- munity and also develop an impactful signature philanthropic event to benefit Rook's Resources, the won- derful charity led by 2008 Gamma Gamma alum Thomas Reives. We began in the fall with the 2024 Home- coming Silent Auction, which kickstarted our philanthropic donations with over $4000. In the winter quarter, we hosted our 2024 Annual Gaming Marathon, which raised an additional $5000. Following the gaming marathon, we partnered with Vigo County Big Brothers Big Sisters to hold our annual BBBS Christmas par- ty, where we provided gifts for 60 kids in the community. We also partnered with the Rose-Hulman sorority Alpha Omicron Pi and worked with them on various projects at the Vigo County Humane Society. All the while, we were working on and planning our signature event, Carmine's Convoy. When all was said and done, we increased our philanthropic financial impact by almost 5000% versus the previous year and had an event that will long be remembered by the participants and most importantly will allow Rook's Resources to significantly increase their impact on families with infants in NICU's in the future.
