| | | | | | Alumni Update | | | | | | Stanley Updike '52: Stan worked at TRW Valve Division in Cleveland from 1958 until his retirement in 1990. Stan received numerous awards and patents for his designs of automotive parts during his career. After retirement, Stan en- joyed gardening, woodworking, traveling with friends, golfing, and fishing on his boat. Family, especially his grandchildren and great -grandchildren, was the most important part of his life. Stan was a proud member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Elks of Painesville, Al Koran Shriners of Cleveland, and of Painesville United Methodist Church. Ron Vahle '56: Ron entered the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged as a Captain. Ron worked at DELCO and was married to Kath- leen for 68 years. Ron was an avid golfer and very active at Horizon Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon, Elder, and Bible Study teacher. He enjoyed reading and loved hiking with his family. William "Bill" Henley '72: Bill was a cornerstone of the Indian- apolis Power & Light Company (IPL), where he dedicated nearly 46 years of his life, signifi- cantly shaping the company and its operations. He was an active member of various boards, including Indianapolis Power & Light Compa- ny, IPALCO Enterprises, Indianapolis Down- town, Inc., and the Indiana Energy Associa- tion. His service extended to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Indianapolis Chamber of Com- merce. Bill's passion for community service was further exempli- fied by his membership on the 500 Festival Board of Directors. Dennis "Denny" Grannan '79: Denny obtained his master's degree in engineering from The University of Louisville and was a corporate executive for General Electric Company, Square D, and Lucas. Denny was a faithful member of Cross- walk Community Church. He was a man who loved Jesus and generously spent his time car- ing for others. He began Vibrant Life Minis- tries, which he operated for nine years. He also dedicated time to serving with federal prison ministries. Mark Fleck '79: During Mark's Career he worked for Intel- ledex Robotics, Flow Int'l, and Avure Tech- nologies. He finished his career doing con- sulting work for Universal Pure. He con- stantly used his creativity to fix things around the house or make activities easier and for Mark there was always a project to work on. He was married to his wife Peggy for 40 years, and the time he spent with his family was one of the greatest joys in his life. Kevin Kaufman '87: Kevin began his career in engineering, but soon departed the field to pursue his true passion in medicine. He obtained his M.D. from West Virginia School of Medicine in '94 and became a Board-Certified Neuro- surgeon after doing his residency at Indiana University. His care and strong empathy for his patients is what drove his practice in Fort Worth Texas. Outside of his career he enjoyed many different activities, but would always be sure to call any family or friend. Despite Kevins incredibly demanding professional schedule he always made time for family and friends. Chapter Eternal 12 Alumni News Al Shipp '78 became a member of the Board of Directors for Airmeez this year. Brian Runkle '90 was appointed to be the first Chief Operating Officer at AgFirst Credit Bank., South Carolina. Tom Lautenschlager '02 was appointed as the Senior Director of Facilities Opera- tions at Northwell Health, Staten Island. Trent Kimbrell '11 was appointed to be the Director of Engine Assembly Test and Final Parts Mounting Business at Cummins Inc. Tyler Kimbrell '11 became a plant man- ager XPC at Cummins Inc. Chris Ingram '14 was activated with the Army Reserves. He is currently in the Middle East designing and improving mili- tary bases. Coy DePratt '15 and his wife Madison welcomed their son, Harrison Thomas DePratt, into this world last September. Ryan Kuhl '19 is now the Director of Pro- duction at American Freedom Distillery. Lee J. Warner '82 continues his journey through the Great Loop on his trustworthy ship Redbow V. An article describing Lee's journey will be featured on the fol- lowing page.
