| | | | | | Housing Corporation Board | | | | | | The Gamma Gamma Housing Corporation Board works with the active chapter and the Board of Trustees to ensure that the chapter house is maintained and improved. The goal is for the house to provide good study spaces as well as living spaces, so that the undergraduates can excel in academics and continue Gamma Gamma's legacy of brotherhood. A key goal is having sufficient funds to main- tain the house, and the finances are dependent upon (a) the chapter's membership being at full strength, and (b) that the house be filled to capacity with live-in actives. It is also essential that active members partici- pate in house management and leadership roles as well as weekly and daily house upkeep. During the past year, many house upgrades have been completed as a result of the Academic Fa- cility Task Force survey done in the spring of 2024. Its recommendations were to provide an environment which is more conducive to academics: workstations in study areas, conference tables, and wifi/docking stations were added, and new furniture and TV's sup- plied to encourage better common space use (i.e. chapter room). Appreciation is due to Dave Ayars '78, Rick Stanley '78, Dan Kuester '76, Karl Menke '81, and Bruce Ungethiem '77 for the work put into this effort. Rick Stanley has recently been installing addi- tional docking stations in the new study workspace known as the "Dungeon" on the basement level. Improved "Dungeon" heating and cooling was approved and funded by the HCB and was installed in March 2025 thanks to the efforts of Bruce Ungethi- em. The basement-level Dungeon is located in the space where the old "Pledge Steps" were located. It has turned out to be an effective study space for the actives, so it is critical to provide a good working en- vironment. Bruce Ungethiem has also been investigating improvements to ventilation in the kitchen. It is hoped that this effort can be funded and completed during the summer of 2025. Capital Campaign and HCB Financial Planning is being managed by Brad Munchel and Dan Kuester. Continuing donor collections are going well with the expectation of rolling the remaining construction debt into a longer-term mortgage in the fall of 2026. The intention is to create a capital fund to cover ongoing major maintenance needs as well as building improve- ments (including safety) into the future. Dan and Brad in addition to the BOT mentoring guide the chapter in budgeting adequately for future maintenance needs. Another focus of the HCB is to sup- port the House Manager (currently K. J. Smith, a sophomore from Houston, Texas). House Manager is a challenging job, as they supervise maintaining all aspects of the house. As well as nurturing and maintaining a culture where all brothers participate in upkeep of the house, and show leadership in the respect of it. Appreciation also to Dave Ayars, the HCB vice-president. He stays on top of all the house needs, the preventative maintenance inspec- tions, mentoring and on call with the House Manager, and visiting the house frequently. It is a great privilege to participate on the HCB with so many brothers from different eras who play a role in maintaining the chap- ter. - Charles "Chuck" Sigman '80 Housing Corporation Board Update, Spring 2025 11 President, Gamma Gamma Housing Corporation Board Some of the new dual monitor set-ups installed in the library An example of one of the new in room foldout desks
