BETA RAYS A PUBLICATION OF BETA SIGMA PSI AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY SPRING 2025 InsIde: REUNION SPOTLIGHT 2 ALUMNI MEMORIES 2 STRENGTHENING OUR ROOTS 3 SOMETHING EXTRA 4 T he first time Jeffrey Williams '09 visited Purdue, he admired a house that had a deck on the roof. When Don Shuck '06 from Jeffrey's home church invited Jeffrey to participate in a Fraternity's recruitment, it ended up being at the house with the deck. "The recruitment event was Halo Night, and I was worried because I had (and still have) some un-Christ-like tendencies when it comes to video games, and I wasn't sure how well I'd fit in," Jeffrey shared. "As soon as I got upstairs, I heard Dan Vandewalle '04 yelling obscenities in a brotherly way at Ben Moeller '07, and that pretty much solidified my decision to join." Jeffrey enjoyed spending his first few years of adulthood in an environment where being a follower of Christ was not only acceptable but encouraged. "I'm grateful that I got to experience all of the adventures, hardships, successes, and failures of college surrounded by brothers." Since graduating, Jeffrey has served on the board, which led him to meet many Beta Sigs he wouldn't have met otherwise. "Being involved at the national level has given me the opportunity to meet some really outstanding individuals from other chapters." In his career, Jeffrey is an implementation consultant at Genesys. He has learned how to stretch his interpersonal skills to provide a good experience for his customers while also helping them ensure a good experience for their customers. He is currently struggling to learn how to delegate tasks effectively. "Usually, I would prefer to do everything myself so that I can be in control of the quality I'm putting out, but time constraints mean that I have to rely more on other people." One of the highlights of Jeffrey's job? "The feeling of working a problem for a long time and finally solving it at 3 a.m. is unparalleled." In his free time, Jeffrey enjoys playing tabletop miniatures games, which involve assembling and painting small models. This led him to get into 3D printing and later learning 3D modeling. "As with video games, it all boils down to creative problem solving, which is probably the aspect of my job that I like most." Jeffrey has also started smoking meat and loves trading recipes and participating in chili cookoffs with the men in his church who also have smokers. Since joining Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Carmel, Jeffrey has become heavily involved as a volunteer. "It keeps me busy, but service gives me a sense of belonging I haven't felt since my days in the Chapter House." You can connect with Jeffrey at jeffrey.andres.williams@gmail.com.
