A L P H A C H I C H A P T E R 3 O ver the past year, Alpha Chi Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau has made tremendous strides toward securing a strong and sustainable future. In the fall, we moved into our temporary, off-campus house as construction began on our future on-campus home. Our fall philanthropy chairman, Jackson James '23, planned, coordinated, and hosted the first-ever Max's Mile—a campus-wide walk- and-talk event dedicated to raising awareness for mental health issues. Building on that momentum, our current philanthropy chairman, Nick Wilson '22, organized a benefit night at Boardtown Pizza and Pints, a local favorite, with proceeds going to the SeriousFun Children's Network. He is also hosting a Pre-Finals Car Smash, an event open to the entire campus to help students relieve some stress before exams. Leadership within the chapter continues to shine. Tanner Payne '23 and Thomas Holliman '22 were recently elected director and counselor trainer, respectively, for New Maroon Camp—Mississippi State's largest student-led organization dedicated to welcoming incoming freshmen. Caine Matthews '24 continued his impactful role as judicial council representative within the Student Association, helping shape university policies from a student perspective. From the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics to Reformed University Fellowship, the Mississippi State Barbecue Club, and everything in between, Alpha Chi brothers are active in nearly every facet of campus life. However, brotherhood remains at the heart of our chapter. Chaplain Keith Purvis '24 leads regular Bible studies open to all members. We've also fielded teams in intramural soccer, flag football, and softball—organized by Athletics Chairman Matthew Ryan '24. Last fall, several brothers volunteered with the Oktibbeha County Humane Society, constructing much-needed fencing under the leadership of our community service chairman, Preston Milem '23. Alpha Chi Chapter has accomplished great things this year, and we're excited to aim even higher in the months ahead.
