The DePauw Phi 2 I t has been a strong year for Indiana Zeta, and we're thrilled to share the latest philanthropic and academic achievements with you! PHILANTHROPY PHILANTHROPY One of our main goals this year was to become a Triple Crown Chapter within Phi Delt, which recognizes both our commitment to philanthropy and the legacy of Lou Gehrig, who was one of Phi Delta Theta's most distinguished alumni. Lou's achievement of the Triple Crown in baseball remains one of the most challenging feats in the sport, accomplished by only 27 players in MLB history. Unfortunately, his career was cut short due to ALS, now commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, a progressive and incurable neurodegenerative disease. To commemorate his legacy, Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters created the Triple Crown Award, given to chapters that complete three key philanthropy goals: supporting a local ALS family, hosting a philanthropy event that raises at least $444, and raising $10,000 for the Live Like Lou Foundation to achieve Iron Phi Chapter status. We are proud to share that our Chapter has already completed the first two requirements, raising $10,000 and serving an ALS family; once we have our campus-wide pickleball tournament in April, we will have reached all three pillars to meet the goal. Reaching this milestone will be the Chapter's first time doing so and will further the fight against ALS, benefit the Chapter through stronger standing with General Headquarters, and give our Chapter recognition for its philanthropic efforts. SPOTLIGHT ON OUR IRON PHIS SPOTLIGHT ON OUR IRON PHIS A key part of our philanthropy efforts is the Iron Phi program, which challenges individual members to raise $1,000 and complete an athletic event in support of ALS research and awareness. Last semester, George Ferguson '27 became our first Iron Phi of the year, and Ben Schroeder '28 became our first Iron Phi this past semester. A shoutout to the Iron Phis we have had over the past year: • Hudson Alden '25 • Sam Cummins '25 • Hudson Mosher '25 • Cole Bubalo '27 • George Ferguson '27 • Luka Pirtskhalaishvili '27 • Ben Schroeder '28 • Nolan Whitehead '28 If you would like to support one of these members in their efforts, donations can be made to their individual campaigns at tinyurl.com/SupportIronPhi. Every contribution helps us make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. Thank you for your continued support. With your help, we can honor Lou Gehrig's legacy, strengthen our Chapter's impact, and take another step toward finding a cure for ALS. CLOSING REMARKS CLOSING REMARKS Over the last semester, the men of Phi Delta Theta earned an impressive 3.4 house GPA. We are very proud of the brothers for this achievement, which placed us fourth of all fraternities on campus and above the all-men's average. One of our house principles is sound learning; we hope to continue to implement this in the upcoming semesters and strive to earn an even higher GPA at the end of this coming semester. It was nice updating you all again, and we loved seeing all the mothers at the house for Mom's Weekend. If you have questions about any upcoming events or other plans/ideas going on at the house, feel free to reach out.
