Lyre Notes Alpha Nu Chapter of ΑΧΩ at the University of Missouri Spring 2025 H ello, my name is Katie Whitmarsh '23, and I am excited to serve as the 2025 chapter president for Alpha Nu. I am so grateful to work alongside 14 talented, dedicated and motivated young women on the executive board. Together, I know this team can help Alpha Nu reach new heights. Spring New Member Class ________________ On Feb. 20, Alpha Nu welcomed 18 members into our chapter. The bid day theme, "Honey I'm Home," featured stylish merchandise with yellow and white balloons around the chapter house. Our new members painted boxes for their future badges and pins with their bid day buddies during their first sisterhood bonding activity. The day was filled with joy and celebration thanks to the planning and prep of Louisa Martin '24, vice president of recruitment information, and Ava Marsalla '23, vice president of recruitment. Our chapter now has 313 members. Gwyneth Weiss '23, vice president of new member education, created a welcoming environment by providing info during weekly new member meetings, encouraging joining meals at the house, planning an upcoming new member retreat and starting the highly anticipated process of Big/Little! Academic Achievements ___________________ The chapter's fall 2024 GPA was 3.44, with 189 on the dean's list and 46 achieving a 4.0. Stella Fitzpatrick '23, vice president of intellectual development, has plenty of fun events planned, like a fidget-toy-making class, a coffee shop rental for finals studying in May and, everyone's favorite, Intellectual Insomnia (Cookie) Night. Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis _____ Alpha Nu has once again proven to be a RAMS powerhouse! RAMS is one of the largest student-run philanthropic organizations on campus, and this year, seven Alpha Nus helped organize events as members of the Steering Committee. Thanks to Sara Corazzelli '22, Kaitlyn Davis '21, Aubrey Fleckal '21, Jenna Hammer '24, Morgan Hammer '21, Zoe Kladis '21 and Caroline Schultz '21 for their hard work. Leading the way for Alpha Nu's participation were Gillian O'Neil '23 and Lily Santel '23. Together, we competed in sports tournaments, ran a 5K, and attended speakers and profit shares, raising more than $2,500. Most excitingly, we once again placed first in the RAMS Rock-It lip-sync battle, thanks to our performance of a mash-up of Queen songs! We couldn't be prouder of our performers, liaisons and members for showing our continued love for RAMS. Greek Week _____________________________________ Alpha Nu is paired with the men of Pi Kappa Phi and Kappa Alpha Order for Greek Week this year. The overall theme is iconic mobile games, and our pairing chose Hay Day as our subtheme. Sophia Douglas '21 is on the steering committee, and Reagan Hopeck '22 and Sarah Voshage '23 are leading the chapter as head liaisons. We've had a blast getting to know our pairing partners and can't wait for everything to unfold. We have lots of fun memories ahead and can't wait to finish this semester strong. On behalf of Alpha Nu, thank you.
