As an extrovert with ADHD, I thrive on staying busy and engaged, and AXΩ provided the perfect opportunity to do just that. One of the things I loved most about Alpha Nu chapter was how many different ways there were to participate. No matter your interests, there was always something for you. Some of my favorite memories from the chapter house revolve around eating together in the kitchen at all hours of the day and night. The moments spent sharing meals and laughter with my sisters were so special. At Mizzou, I earned my bachelor's degree in hospitality with a minor in nutrition. Later, I went back to school to become a dietitian, which set me on an unexpected but fulfilling path. Now I run a regenerative farm called Small Circle Harvest with my fiancé, Tanner. Our farm is in Columbia, just 10 minutes from the university, and we are dedicated to stewarding the land in a way that enhances soil health. We raise cattle, poultry and native plants, and we sell grass-fed, grass-finished beef, non-GMO eggs and non-GMO whole frozen chickens. One of my passions is educating people about the importance of where their food comes from. We frequently host groups and tours for pasture walks, giving people the opportunity to learn more about sustainable farming. As a chef and dietitian, I've always loved food, but I never imagined I'd become a farmer until I met Tanner. Farming is hard work, but it's incredibly rewarding because when food is grown well, it tastes better and nourishes us more fully. My goal is to empower small-family farms to feed our communities, reducing reliance on large corporations, making better use of our resources and improving overall health outcomes. Looking ahead, my dream is to expand our farm's reach and provide more food to community members. I'd love to collaborate with other local farms to host farm-to-table dinners at our barn, where people can enjoy delicious, nutrient-dense meals while learning more about sustainable agriculture. I want the undergraduates to know it's OK if you don't know exactly what you want to do. Follow what makes you happy and lean into it, even if it's different from what others expect. Don't worry about what people think you should be doing; focus on what fulfills you! In my free time, I enjoy anything centered around food and people, from recipe development to building charcuterie boards (my friends bring the drinks!). Caring for our flock and collecting their incredible eggs is another favorite pastime of mine. Being a part of Alpha Nu chapter helped me build incredible relationships with people from all walks of life. Those connections have lasted beyond college, and I stay in touch with my sorority sisters in person and through social media—you can find me at @Chef_Lex! My fellow alumna, thank you for your support! Know that I'm always here to cheer you on in your adventures.
