The program has been very well received by the chapter, and the support from alumni has been very strong. We are using a hybrid funding approach that enables us to award significant scholarships immediately while we grow an endowment to fund the program in perpetuity. Working exclusively through the ΑΤΩ Foundation (all donations are tax- deductible), we established two funds: an annual expendable fund to enable immediate impact, and an endowment fund to provide program sustainability. Our target is $125K in scholarships in the first full year, growing to $150K in year 2 and beyond. The endowment target is to surpass $2M within ten years and eventually get to $3M to sustain a $150,000 scholarship program. We now have annual expendable fund commitments for 2024 of over $112,000, and already have over $100,000 in commitments for 2025. Endowment commitments for the first five years exceed $500,000, with several donors indicating they will make significant contributions after they fulfill other charitable commitments. Another $550,000 in estate carveouts have been committed to this program. For the Spring Quarter (2024), we awarded 28 (out of 60 returning active brothers) academic scholarships at an academic recognition dinner in early Septem- ber. All those recognized achieved at least a 3.5 GPA or exceeded their previous cumulative average by at least 0.5. Notably the chapter achieved the second highest grade point average among the eight fraternities in that quarter. Combined with the academic facility improvements made to the chapter house this summer along with the implementation of quiet hours, we are confident this program will drive improved chapter academic performance; an area of oppor- tunity for some time. We also awarded nine leadership scholarships for exemplary chapter, campus and community leadership at the same dinner. Our intention is to award schol- arships annually in these three areas based upon the successful leadership provided by brothers submitting applications. Award values will be based on lead- ership impact and the financial need of those winners within the funding budget. In 1880, Brother Glazebrook challenged us to "foster… the recognition of true merit wherever found." There is plenty of true merit to recognize these days at Gamma Gamma! This program is a great vehicle for Gamma Gamma alumni to recognize our undergraduate brothers who are excelling or significantly im- proving academically, and/or demonstrating outstanding leadership. To those brothers who have already stepped up to support this program, we cannot thank you enough. To those who have yet to be contacted, please don't wait for our small team to reach out. We hope you will reach out to us and join so many other alumni who are helping Gamma Gamma sustain our rightful position as the premier fraternity on campus and one of the most outstanding chapters in Alpha Tau Omega nationally!
