THE LION TATTLER I L L I N O I S B E T A C H A P T E R O F S I G M A A L P H A E P S I L O N • T H E U N I V E R S I T Y O F I L L I N O I S FALL 2024 T hanks to the more than 120 alumni and spouses who attended our 125th anniversary celebration on September 13-14, 2024. It was a weekend of ΣAE brotherhood to remember! Whether you couldn't make it or want to relive the memories, here are the highlights: • Phi Alpha Golf Outing – We had 77 golfers participate in PAGO 2024 at Atkins Golf Club. Golf shoe bags and awards were presented at the golf course, and lunch was included after the tournament. • Significant Others Program – Tours of the U of I campus and Krannert Art Museum were led by student ambassadors. • Barbecue Buffet Reception at the Chapter House – ILBE 125th anniversary coins were presented to all ILBE alumni. • Brad Dickson Patio Improvement Project – The patio was dedicated to Brad. • Hospitality Tent – Set up at the chapter house before the game; included coffee, juice, water, bagels, and donuts. • Fighting Illini vs. Central Michigan – Great Illini victory! • Hospitality Tent – Set up at the chapter house after the game; beer, water, and light snacks were provided. • Dinner at Jupiter's at the Crossing – We recognized brothers from the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, and 2000s with 25-year and 50-year certificates! In addition, Brother Doug Fink '77 received the "Shield of Brotherhood" award and Brothers Greg Martin '76 and George Havel '79 received the "Order of Minerva" award for their contributions to the fraternity! • Finally, each alumni received the ILBE 125th Anniversary Challenge Coin as a memento of the event. There is truly something special going on at Illinois Beta. The chapter is made up of great young men and has amazing alumni who are supportive and actively engaged. Many of the alumni expressed an interest in participating on an Alumni Advisory Board. The goal of that board will be to establish a more meaningful ΣAE experience for our members, now and into the future. In the Bonds, Greg Martin '76 Alumni reconnect at our 125th anniversary.
