Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta at The University of Alabama - Fall 2024 The Katydid A s we celebrate Kappa Delta's 120th year, I am incredibly proud of how far we've come. Leading such an amazing group of women has been a true honor, and I'm excited to see our sisterhood continue to grow and succeed. I am deeply thankful for my time serving this incredible Chapter. Academic Success Kappa Delta remains committed to academic excellence. Last spring, 311 members made the President's and Dean's Lists with GPAs over 3.5. We've also ranked in the top five for overall Panhellenic GPAs in the last two semesters, with a Chapter average of 3.6. Many of our members were honored for their scholastic and service achievements during UA's Honors Day and the Tapping on the Mound ceremony. 132 New Sisters This year, we were thrilled to welcome 132 members into our sisterhood and over 50 alumnae to the pinning ceremony. It has been a joy getting to know our new sisters, and I'm already proud of all they've accomplished at UA. Getting Involved Our members continue to show their dedication to service in Kappa Delta and across campus. Mattie Freeman '22 has been selected as director of judicial affairs for the Alabama Panhellenic Association for 2024-25, and Lucy Bonhaus '22 is the vice president for student affairs for SGA, overseeing programs benefiting UA students. Our members are also involved in Capstone Men and Women, ambassador programs, club sports, UA athletic teams, campus ministries, honor societies, and more. We are so proud of their commitment to service and leadership. Looking Forward As the fall semester wraps up, I am proud of our Chapter's progress. We remain dedicated to excellence and pressing on to all that lies ahead. Serving alongside the remarkable women of Kappa Delta has been a privilege, and I know our sisterhood, academic achievements, and philanthropic work will continue to thrive for the next 120 years. Thank you for your ongoing support—it means the world to us! I 've enjoyed building connections with other Panhellenic chapters through events like Greek Point activities, sisterhood dinners, and Think Tanks. One of my favorite experiences was organizing a dinner swap with Gamma Phi Beta, which gave our members a chance to make new friends. I've also had the pleasure of representing Kappa Delta within the broader Tuscaloosa community, including organizing an Easter egg hunt for local children. When Homecoming 2024 rolled around, I was particularly excited to lead our chapter's participation in various events from the dance competition to parade displays. It's been a rewarding experience to see members from all pledge classes get involved. I'm proud to represent Kappa Delta and look forward to what the future holds!
