his past March, Kappa Delta, the first sorority established on
The University of Alabama's campus, celebrated an incredible
milestone—120 years of sisterhood, leadership, and service. Founded in
1904 in the basement of the UA President's Mansion, our Chapter has been
an integral part of UA's Greek system and has upheld a proud legacy of
empowering women both on campus and beyond.
Over the past 120 years, the women of Kappa Delta have consistently
demonstrated a commitment to their values of friendship, personal integrity,
academic excellence, and social responsibility. From fostering a strong
sense of community to spearheading philanthropic efforts—particularly
their longstanding support of organizations like the Girl Scouts of the USA
and Prevent Child Abuse America—Kappa Delta has left an indelible mark
on the University and the surrounding Tuscaloosa community.
As the sorority celebrates this special anniversary, Kappa Delta reflects on
its enduring impact while looking forward to a future of continued growth,
leadership, and dedication to the ideals that have defined it for more than
a century. Our sisterhood remains as strong and vibrant as ever, embodying
the spirit of excellence that has come to define Greek life at The University
of Alabama.
We commemorated 120 years of our sisterhood by creating a special
logo to display on banners and cups, hosting a dinner in the spring,
distributing stickers on game days, and participating in a special
anniversary event in October.
