Email: drjannot@gmail.com Alumnae News Alumnae News As we near the midway point of the fall semester, let's take a moment to highlight one of our sister's summer experiences! "Rwanda was a study abroad opportunity I felt I could not pass up. I have always wanted to take advantage of a study abroad program and feed my travel bug, so this trip gave me more than I could have ever asked for. While the intention of the trip is to study the Rwandan Genocide that occurred 30 years ago, I got an education much broader than I anticipated. I had the pleasure of staying with a Rwandan family for a few days, meeting more locals than I can even remember, and trying more amazing food than I ever have in my life, all while getting to learn a bit about a new language, new culture, and new friends. I am still in contact with my homestay sister and have created a close bond with the other students I traveled with—one of whom is actually one of my sorority sisters! Learning about genocide is not a light topic, and I cannot stress enough how influential being in Rwanda was for this learning experience. We got to see, feel, and meet the people this genocide impacted. It is an educational experience I will never forget and will forever recommend to others." MIKAYLA GIBBONS '23 Mikayla and her roommate take in the beauty of Rwanda. Summer Sister Spotlight
