THE TAXI NEWS ALPHA SIGMA CHAPTER OF THETA XI • BRADLEY UNIVERSITY FALL 2024 T he Alpha Sigma Chapter has been hard at work to start the 2024- 25 school year strong. Between house cleanup during Work Week, the whirlwind of move in, and the excitement of fall recruitment, the on-campus members have set themselves up for success. NEW BEGINNINGS The end of formal recruitment saw five men welcomed as associate members, which was above the median for all fraternities at Bradley. The chapter was excited to kick off its schedule of fall social and philanthropic events, and members have their sights set on continuing their excellence in academics, campus involvement, and careers. CHAPTER HOUSE UPDATES The capital campaign has continued to aid in renovations and improvements to the house. The most significant recent renovation is a complete overhaul of the president's bathroom, which was having issues with plumbing and continued maintenance. The renovations included a new bathtub and sink as well as new flooring, lighting, and repainted walls. Two of the downstairs rooms have also seen improvements. One has had the flooring updated from carpet to wood paneling to improve resident quality of life. The other room has been converted from single occupancy to double occupancy to accommodate future growth. The chapter continues to make good use of the new kitchen facility, and other major renovations to the chapter house are planned. WHAT'S NEXT? Alumni board elections were held in April, and the new board met over the summer to coordinate with chapter leadership and discuss plans for the fall semester and beyond. Currently, dates are set for the Blue Iris presentation and 6294. The board is also looking to plan philanthropic events with Habitat for Humanity and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. These will be in addition to the annual charity golf tournament that has been led by Reid Chapman '20.
