We survived (and prospered) through the spring and summer. Spring grades just came in; the chapter GPA was 3.5, beating both the overall UT undergraduate and IFC GPAs. Given how active brothers are Thursday through Saturday, this is quite the achievement! Spring was chock-full of socials and community service events. In May, the alumni board hosted a dinner for our 40-plus graduating seniors. Our senior retention rate is one of the highest in the country given our size. We hope that means that the experience at Texas Alpha is worth the time and effort. Summer recruitment (finally!) ended with 53 new members joining Texas Alpha from all over Texas, the U.S., and Ireland. Now that we are in the SEC, chapter leaders are making plans to increase security and safety at football games and tailgates. We may be overly cautious here, but it's necessary. We continue to strengthen our ties to the university through some leadership training that concludes this semester after almost a year, as well as lend our support to the newly formed West Campus Ambassadors program, a university-sponsored effort to promote safety in the West Campus area. With all of that, you can count on the brothers to have a full schedule this fall. Please come by and join us for the home football games as we manhandle our way through the SEC! Hook 'em! If you can't make it to Austin, you can keep up with the chapter and fellow Texas Alpha alumni on our alumni LinkedIn page (linkedin.com/groups/3089903).
