Scholars and Athletes Excel As spring ended, several brothers were recognized for their academic and athletic accomplishments. On the hockey team, 11 Dekes made All-American Scholars, boasting GPAs of 3.75 and above for two semesters. Erik Voloshin '24 and Marc Smith '24, our senior goaltenders, set the precedent for their younger brothers. On the diamond, Luke LaSaracina '25 cemented himself in Wesleyan baseball history by collecting his 100th career hit, making him only the 55th Cardinal ever to reach the mark. Luke, Matt Halas '24, and Tyler Cosgrove '25 all finished the season as members of the All- NESCAC academic team. Gamma Phi Recognized at 180th Convention In late August, Social Chairman Colby Geddis '26 and I had the privilege of attending Delta Kappa Epsilon's 180th Anniversary Convention in Washington, D.C. At the inaugural awards ceremony, Gamma Phi Chapter received an honorable mention for the Delta Award, given to DKE's most improved chapter. Along with the award, we received a great amount of praise from Executive Director Doug Lanpher for our chapter's resilience in the face of the administrative burden placed on us. This award could not be achieved without the extraordinary leadership and selflessness of our previous presidents, Christopher Guttman '22 and Colin Campbell '25. The classes of 2023 and 2024 also showed great courage and commitment to our chapter despite times of distress and uncertainty. Finally, we must thank the KLC and all our alumni for their continued support and guidance throughout the past two years. The Autumn Wind Is a Cardinal! After a 6-3 season topped off by a second- consecutive Little Three win, the football team looks to thrive on Andrus field once again. The offense is headed by its veteran quarterback and captain (former Gamma Phi VP) Niko Candido '25. Niko will be protected up front by Ryan Caserta '25, Will Aaronson '25, Mario Lee '25, and me. Offensive weapons Rickey Eng '25 and James Mchugh '26 return to help the Cardinals surpass its ranking as the 4th-best scoring offense in the NESCAC last season. On the defensive side of the ball, Captain Ben Carbeau '25 returns as linebacker after a phenomenal season achieving first- team All-NESCAC honors and finishing in the top 10 in the NESCAC in tackles. Accompanying him in disrupting backfields this fall is second-team All-NESCAC defensive lineman Declan Welch '26 and proven playmakers Patrick Boujokos '24 and Mike Rowan '25. Dylan Connors '26 and Michael Solimando '26 complete an extremely talented Cardinal defense. This year, Wesleyan's soccer team is led by Captain Colin Campbell '25 and Zack Burd '25. Together, they look to capitalize on an opportunity to bring the soccer team its second-consecutive Little Three victory. Last year's win ended a drought that had lasted 12 seasons. Sophomores Colin Tsay '27 and Zach Feldman '27 are also expected to be key contributors to the team's success this season. Our current members are proud to represent DKE in all our academic and athletic endeavors. We are extremely thankful for the opportunity to continue the legacy of all those who have come before us as we continue to honor the way of the gentlemen, scholars, and Jolly Good Fellows.
