SIGMA NU 2 T hat step is the formation of the Alumni Advisory Board (AAB). We need volunteers! Several brothers have expressed interest, but we need more. Will you be one of those? Immediate importance: Without a complete and functional AAB, the General Fraternity (aka "National") will not support re-colonization. The purpose of the AAB is simple: Provide professional perspective to undergraduate officers. Give feedback on action plans to help create a "culture" for long-term success. Keep the team of alumni up to date on chapter operations. The AAB positions are: AAB Chairman Colony/Chapter Advisor Financial Advisor LEAD* Advisor Social and Risk Reduction Advisor Recruitment Advisor Alumni Relations Advisor Fraternity-wide guidance is available for each of these positions, and Delta Delta colony/chapter-specific guidance will be available for several of these positions. • Virtual training will be provided. • Travel is not required. Advisory duties can be performed by telephone or video teleconference (we have a Zoom account). • Liability insurance coverage will be provided. • The time commitment should rarely exceed four hours each month. Additional information is available in the form of frequently asked questions (and answers) (FAQs). If you're interested in learning more, please contact Brother Nelson at nelsonnittany@aol.com, (H) (814) 278-8575, or (M) (703) 244-7493. Remember, without an AAB, there will be no Delta Delta collegiate chapter and the chapter house will likely be sold. *The LEAD Program is Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc.'s membership development program. LEAD is an acronym for Leadership, Ethics, Achievement, and Development. The purpose of LEAD is to develop ethical leaders for society, brothers who will make an impact on their chapter, campus, and community. RE-COLONIZATION EARLY INITIATIVES IN AAB RECRUITMENT HOUSE IMPROVEMENTS The Critical Next Step 1 2 3 T he following brothers have been instrumental in getting AAB recruitment "off and running": Ernie Russon, ΔΔ1014; Bill Snyder, ΔΔ1123; Mike Sweeney, ΔΔ1220; Gary Gleason, ΔΔ1247; Doug Kosydar, ΔΔ1249; Anthony Italiano, ΔΔ1256; Mike Zecca, ΔΔ1327; Kevin Smith, ΔΔ1338; Victor Schleich, ΔΔ1477; Pat Thompson, ΔΔ1400; and John Forstmeier, ΔΔ1499. These brothers have expressed interest in serving on the AAB and/or have volunteered to recruit others. Thanks to all and keep up the great work. T wo unplanned but much needed improvements were completed this fiscal year. The water softening system, installed in 2008, was leaking and the system was no longer functioning. It was replaced in April at a cost of $4,240. A photo of the new system (less the brine tank) follows. We replaced our antiquated alarm system in May at a cost of $7,092. The system was installed in 1995. It failed inspection in January. There were issues with the main panel and the detectors were at the end of their service life. Essentially everything but the bedroom smoke detectors (not part of the system) and the fire alarm pull stations were replaced.
