The hawkeye Iowa alpha Chapter of phI Kappa psI • summer 2024 INSIDE: a Year of prInCIpled Growth pG 2 CamaraderIe and CompanY pG 3 Chapter offICers pG 3 I owa Alpha has long benefited from strong alumni leadership. The House Corporation used to split responsibility between Chapter advisory and their primary obligation, caring for the physical structure at 363. They have continually gone above and beyond to provide for our membership, and we're grateful to all who have lent help, including Doug Parsons '75, Joe Schemmel '76, Todd Schoell '75, John Greenwood '00, and currently Mark Easler '86. ALUMNI ADVISORY BOARD Following the pandemic, the advising of the Chapter split into a new, separate Alumni Advisory Board. We have three Brothers who have already stepped up as advisors: Adam Parker '09 is the Chapter advisor, living locally in Iowa City. Eric Parker '00 and Michael Penniman '16 recently joined. Advisors provide stability, perspective, and historical consistency to our executive officers, and they also provide mentorship and guidance to individual members. Such "brotherly love" not only helps members grow but also adds stability and strength to our Chapter and future. While Adam, Eric, and Micheal have been great, we do need more advisors to fill this team. In the days of Zoom meetings, it is easier than ever to support Iowa Alpha; such a role is impactful while personally fulfilling. GRAND ARCH COUNCIL Speaking of alumni involvement, this biennium's Grand Arch Council is July 10-13, 2024, in Minneapolis. This GAC is the closest to Iowa City in years, and we have numerous alumni in the Twin Cities area. Two things: 1. If you'll be in the Twin Cities during GAC and would like to join in the festivities, write to phikappapsiiowaalpha@gmail.com to make plans. 2. Lunch plans are in the works for Saturday, July 13, for GAC attendees and non-attendees alike. More details to come. Fraternally, Eric Parker '00...
