MAY 8 TH for May 15 t h edition Desert Messenger News Email: editor@DesertMessenger.com 928-916-4235 www.DesertMessenger.com EVERETT RAY SMITH Everett Ray Smith passed away in Phoenix, AZ on March 21st, 2024, with his family by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Dolly Smith, sisters Joyce and Sue, brother Dale, his grandson Devin, and two son-in-laws, Kevin and Paul. He is survived by his wife Jean- nette, and his children Julie, Karen, Tammy, Shelley, and David, and his many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Celebration of life for Everett Ray Smith was held Saturday April 13, 2024 at 11:00 am. Location was at Quartzsite Alliance Church, 720 W Desert Vista St, Quartzsite, AZ 85346. Everett took his last ride in his Tow Truck down Main Street. Just prior to the services, his broth- erhood of towing family escorted him from Everett's Towing, down Main Street, to Kofa and arrive at the Alli- ance Church, where there will was a full eulogy at his Celebration of Life, and a luncheon followed. JUNE MARIE BELL March 1, 1945 to March 27, 2024 June Marie Bell of Brenda, AZ went home to be with the Lord on March 27th with her husband Rich- ard (Dick) Bell and daughter Dawn Dydahl by her side. She is also sur- vived by her sister Faye Aydelott of Quartzsite, AZ, her brother Mark Witt of Coarsegold, CA and grand- son Dan Porter of Burien, WA. June Marie was born in Lebanon, Oregon and she graduated from Sweet Home High School in Or- egon in 1963. June Marie met her husband Dick Bell at the Western States Country Music Festival in Angel's Camp, CA IN August 1986. They were married at the Lucky Severn Ranch in Pentz, CA on April 18, 1987. They then moved to Clo- verdale, Oregon where they opened a Gift Shop. June Marie was an accomplished artist doing wood carvings, oil paint- ing, beading and artwork on gourds. June was also an accomplished singer, so they put together a mu- sical comedy show and performed at resorts along the Oregon Coast. This show became quite popular and they ended up performing "The Dump Station Revue" throughout the western US and Canada. June received her ministry licensee from Harvest Time Assemblies so they added programs at jails, rehab cen- ters and missions to their schedule. In the last several years, they lived in Grass Valley, Oregon. June has been a winter visitor in Quartzsite for 32 years and she will be dearly missed by her family, friends and fans. DELLA JEAN (JOHNSON) SAGE Della Jean (Johnson Sage, 91, of Renton, Washington, died peace- fully on February 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Sage on October 14, 2004. She is survived by her brother, four children, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Della was born in Bonneville, Or- egon on July 15, 1932. She attended Cleveland High School, graduating in 1950 and married James on Oc- tober 18, 1950, both in Portland, Oregon. She and James moved many times during their marriage where Della worked to help support the family. They lived in Bremerton, Washington for several years before their retirement, and Quartzsite, Arizona until James's death after retirement. Della will be remembered as a joyful, caring, generous, and com- passionate woman admired by her family and friends who will miss her terribly. A private celebration of life is planned. If you wish to remember Della, you can give memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the National Indigenous Women's Re- source Center. CLIFFORD WAYNE BROWN Born September 25, 1936 in Red- mond, Oregon. Clifford moved to Quartzsite, Arizona as an infant with his parents Fred and Mildred Brown where he resided until join- ing the US Air Force in 1955. Clif- ford was a lifelong mechanic work- ing on airplanes, heavy equipment, school buses, and automobiles. He returned to Quartzsite as a part time resident in 1990. The remain- der of the year he resided in Bridge- port, WA. Clifford passed away in Quartzsite on April 7, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father, Fred Brown and his mother Mil- dred Brown Cowell, two daughters, one son and three brothers. He is survived by his wife Donna Brown, two sisters, Helen Dunckhurst, and Clara Love and brother Steven Brown, daughter-in-law Misty Win- er, five grandchildren: Holly, So- nia, David, Mary, and McKenzie, 12 great-grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.
