Today, he reflects on the Delta Kappa experience that developed him as a young man ready to face the corporate world. Established through ATΩ "I was looking for a home away from home," Ryan said. Through his search as an undergraduate, Ryan discovered the Delta Kappa brotherhood was a diverse community of men devoted to improving the fraternity experience. "Of all the things I could have done at OU, being a part of Alpha Tau Omega was by far the best." Ryan was simultaneously challenged and uplifted by his peers to become the best man possible. He vividly remembers a weeklong spring break road trip with brothers, spending countless hours in the car sharing stories and reflecting on their goals, dreams, and faith. "Seeing men go through a struggle or have a bad experience with a friend or loved one taught me how to empathize. Being a part of the Alpha Tau Omega culture and institution taught me how to align myself with and employ both a mission and a vision." Balynce in the Financial World Ryan recently started a new company, co- founding Balynce with a goal to help people improve their financial health and decision- making. By spreading out larger financial obligations to a daily payment system, the Balynce platform promotes healthy budgeting habits. "My co-founder saw a deficiency among fintech companies in terms of willingness to build products genuinely beneficial to consumers," Ryan added. While they began building the company during a turbulent time for the industry, Ryan and his co-founder made necessary business decisions to create a minimum-viable product and survive in the short-term. Looking ahead to Balynce's upcoming beta test, Ryan is excited for the company's upcoming opportunities to grow through a community round of funding while they collect more app feedback. Staying Connected Years beyond college, Ryan remains close with ATΩ brothers from and around his pledge class. He appreciates the lifelong bonds they've formed together and the chance to see them at church or various gatherings. "When we went to a pledge brother's surprise engagement party in Chicago, even though we were all making enough money to splurge on a hotel, we chose to scrunch up in a room just to remind ourselves about college." The more you can reason with both aspects and not allow one to overbear your mind, the more stable you will be when the times are tough. Also, building a business isn't easy. If you don't do the work, the work won't get done. Let the doubt people have in you add fuel to your fire to succeed."
