S o long, Big 12. Hello, SEC! Exciting times are ahead for both the university and Delta Kappa. Chapter Pursuits James Benson '07 and I met with the new executive board recently and had some great conversations about how alumni and actives can collaborate better. The members expressed a desire to bolster philanthropic efforts to recapture the True Merit award at ATΩ Congress this summer. It was encouraging to meet the next generation of leaders of Delta Kappa and hear how they plan to continue the chapter's success both on campus and nationally. Upcoming Events Jack Stagg '16 is planning an event for alumni in the Tulsa area on June 14. Details and ticket information will be sent out soon, but mark the date on your calendars for an outing at a Tulsa Drillers game. Feel free to bring the family! We would love to catch up with our fellow brothers living in NE Oklahoma. The Alumni Association looks forward to hosting tailgates at three games this fall: September 7 against Houston, October 19 Homecoming game against South Carolina, and November 23 against Alabama. We hope you can join us at the chapter house three hours before each kickoff! If you or your business are interested in sponsoring a tailgate this year, email us at ouatoalumni@yahoo.com. New Alumni Mentor Program In the early days after Delta Kappa's rechartering, I was told by some senior members the true purpose of the fraternity was "men pooling their talents to make each other successful in life," and it is my hope this program aids in that vision. Many of you have reached out over the last few years and asked if there are ways you could contribute to the chapter. The undergraduates have also expressed interest in fostering improved connections with the alumni base. This initiative will pair interested students with alumni who work or have experience in their chosen career fields. For example, if a junior or senior was looking into law school, he would be paired with Delta Kappas who are attorneys. The same process would be replicated for medical school, engineering, energy management, etc. I am still working on the details, but it will be a low-commitment way to get more of you involved, even if you live out of state. There is no set schedule or requirements, so participants will have a lot of autonomy on how to shape the program as they see fit. Ideally, I would like to create a channel or network for the undergraduates to lean on as they contemplate their futures after graduation. If you have ideas to share or want more information, please contact me.
