DELTA PSI NEWS Kappa Kappa Gamma • Texas Tech University Spring 2024 T he Lubbock Alumnae Association has held several events and had the pleasure of honoring 50- and 65-year pin recipients in recent months. YEARS OF DEVOTION For Founders Day in October, association members attending the celebration on campus at the Frazier Alumni Center happily presented a 65-year pin to Lynn Benton Forbess '58. Lynn has been a faithful and active Kappa for all these years and has served in many adviser and alumnae support roles. She epitomizes the Kappa Lady, and we loved celebrating her. At our Christmas party, graciously hosted yet again by Cathy Spoonts Porter '70, we presented a 50-year pin to Carol Alkire Matticks '72. We missed Carol last year but were so glad to catch her at the party and recognize her years of commitment to Kappa. RECENT GATHERINGS Speaking of Christmas parties, we had a wonderful collection of Kappas spanning from new graduates to 60-plus-year members. Our gathering was fun as always, and we hope to see even more of you there next year! While there, we collected gifts for our Holiday Rose, Tiffany, a collegian in California who, along with her sister, has experienced significant challenges through the recent loss of both parents. Our support of this Kappa sister was phenomenal, and we know it was much appreciated. Earlier in the fall, we were grateful to have been hosted by Patty McCullough D'Alise, Epsilon Upsilon '86 for an October gathering. It was well-attended, and we enjoyed catching up after the summer. In late fall, we all pulled out our crockpots and provided a yummy chili/soup dinner after the chapter meeting on November 6. Lots of soup and chili can disappear quickly! We appreciate those who cooked—the ladies of Delta Psi certainly enjoyed it. Thank you to these kind hostesses for their hospitality. We look forward to more gatherings in 2024, coming together with our sisterhood of women and sharing the ideals and experiences represented in Kappa Kappa Gamma.
