Sigma Chi 3 I n 2011, Debbie Luebbering was a stay-at-home mom raising her young twin girls while her son was a Sigma Chi at the University of Cincinnati. When Zeta Psi's housemother went on vacation, they asked Debbie if she would be willing to help at the house for a few days. "It was nice because my son had moved away and I was able to see what his life was all about at that time," she said. When the housemother stepped down a week later, Debbie stepped up. Over the years, Debbie has loved meeting the new men who come into the house and watching them grow during their time there. "They come in straight from high school—some of them have never been away from home—and they grow into the most successful men when they leave," she said. While every day is different for Debbie, she can often be found cooking or planning meals, coordinating with the staff, helping with events, including Homecoming and Parents Weekend, and guiding the brothers with everyday questions. She is proud of the chapter and its involvement in philanthropy, academics, campus, and the community, and she hopes it'll continue on the same path. When she's not at the house, Debbie babysits her grandkids. She is grateful for her role as housemother, as she finds it fulfilling and it offers flexibility for her to spend time with her family. Debbie's husband, Greg, is a CPA for the EPA; he works in Clifton, so Debbie enjoys grabbing lunch with him. They have two older children and two in college. In her free time, Debbie enjoys reading, bike riding, and gambling. It's a brotherhood for life. I realized quickly there was a higher purpose to it than just having a good time. All the guys lean on each other for support in times of need but also celebrate each other in times of triumph. I knew this is what I had been searching for since starting college." Seeing how close each brother is to another, it felt like a very inviting community I wanted to be a part of. Additionally, seeing the academic excellence throughout the chapter made me feel like this was the place where guys had their priorities straight and knew how to take care of their responsibilities."
