S ince our recent campaign update, we have received over $42,000 in gifts to the Honoring the Past, Building for the Next Century campaign. This is incredible, and it demonstrates the commitment of our alumni to the future of the Illinois Chapter and their desire to see our vision to renovate the Chapter House come to fruition. A sincere thank-you to the 188 brothers who have contributed more than $3.2 million toward the cause. We're closer to $4 million than ever before, and we must keep going. As previously shared, our progress by the end of the year will make the difference in our project scale and budget. With less than two months left in 2023, now is the time to give! There is strength in numbers— we've witnessed it ourselves as more and more brothers have pledged to the campaign. Our goal is within reach! Join them today to help us close the gap and begin the next chapter of Delta Upsilon at the University of Illinois. Remember, any sized gift is truly appreciated and will bring us closer to reaching our goal, and we are happy to work with you in making a donation within your means. A five-year pledge is a great way to contribute that will have a smaller impact on your wallet but a large impact on our brotherhood. Get started with the enclosed pledge card or visit tinyurl.com/IllinoisDUDonate. If you've already given, a new gift will not go unnoticed and will certainly make a difference. Thank you, brothers, for your commitment to our fraternity. We would not have made it this far without your generous support. As 2023 comes to a close, let's focus on achieving our goal! Fraternally, Dan Gibbs '85 Campaign Chairman Matt Sturgeon '12 Illinois Chapter Alumni Board President WE'RE WE'RE NEARLY NEARLY THERE! THERE! Let's See How Much We Can Raise Before Year-End O ur Chapter's focus this fall has been solidifying our bonds of brotherhood. We started off strong by hosting our Alzheimer's Awareness Fair during the first week of recruitment. Attendees purchased tickets to attempt to dunk a DU, enjoyed a water balloon fight, and raised a total of $250 for a noble cause! Our members successfully navigated another great recruitment season this fall, and we look forward to orienting a new group of brothers who will shape the future of the Chapter. We added 14 men, and they are all great guys. To welcome our new members and get them acquainted with their new brothers, we hosted a variety of bonding activities. These included a bonfire night with s'mores and endless laughs as well as a steak cookout on the patio with house tours. There are many possibilities ahead for DU, and ensuring a smooth recruitment process is crucial to building a solid foundation for future generations. The future is bright and more is to come with informal fall recruitment and formal spring recruitment. We also had the distinct privilege of hosting the 50th anniversary reunion for the graduating class of 1973 on August 23. We had a wonderful turnout of both alumni and undergraduate brothers. We catered from a local barbecue restaurant and alumni, as well as President Jacob Wolf '25, said a few words of reflection. The planning that went into this event was well worth the connection, interaction, and bonding we saw between our dedicated alumni and promising undergraduates. Thank you, DU alumni, for all that you do for our chapter. Delta Upsilon Illinois would not be where it is today without the support we receive from the alumni community. Finally, we want to mention the achievements of the DU Illinois executive board, as four of our board members attended the annual DU Leadership Institute this summer. We were ranked in the Top 10 of the most improved DU chapters this year, and our executive board is grateful for all the support that made this possible. The Illinois Chapter of Delta Upsilon continues to flourish, and we look forward to what the future holds for our tight-knit brotherhood!
