CHI OMEGA Here Come the Party Planners! Here Come the Party Planners! A Message from the Centennial Celebration Committee E lizabeth Mitchener Daniel '82 and Margaret McGlohon '83 both have deep roots when it comes to Epsilon Beta Chapter. "When my older brothers were at UNC, they introduced me to lots of Chi Os when I visited campus," recalled Elizabeth. "I especially remember meeting Margaret Foerster Bratton '79 and Laura Doss Getty '80. I fell in loveāand the rest is history!" Elizabeth began serving Chi O as a student. "I served as assistant house manager, co-initiation chairman, and assistant pledge trainer with Julie Hawks Edge '82. For Margaret, the draw to volunteer began with an alumnae function in 2010. "I realized I had some time and would like to get involved! I had to step away because of my work commitments, but when I heard it was the Chapter's 100th anniversary, I decided to reach out." For both women, the Centennial Celebration is about celebrating what makes Epsilon Beta special. "I am proud of the community that our Chapter gives the young women each year," said Elizabeth. "It offers a wonderful home away from home in a beautiful house." Margaret recently learned Chi O was the first sorority on campus. "Our traditions are kept alive, the sisterhood is strong, academics continue to be a focus, and we are celebrating 100 years!" she said. "All things to be mighty proud of." Planning festivities as significant as these takes a lot of work and many hands. The team is excited to share a packed schedule of events with their Chi O sisters. "Friday night's event at The Carolina Inn is being coordinated by Lisa Gunn Beasley '82 and Julie Hawks Edge '82," Elizabeth shared. "Jennifer Cleveland Elam '91 and Pleasant Parrott Higgs '91 are making terrific plans for a picnic lunch featuring Wilber's Barbecue on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chapter House. Also on the planning team are Tracy Harrell Hallett '82, who is helping coordinate our hotels, and Marlene Fuller Batchelor '81, who is coordinating the football game tickets. Mary Harvey Beaver '82 and Ann Emery Wooten '81 are a team who enjoy bringing together our fabulous sisters to join in the excitement of organizing Chi Omega 100th year anniversary on UNC's campus! " Margaret is also grateful to have a hardworking team. "The lead committee is doing a great job," she said. "Their efforts with the correspondence to our sisterhood are working, and we'll have a wonderful group at the celebration in November!" Through this effort, she has discovered a world of possibilities when it comes to volunteering. "If you have the time and interest, reach out to Ann Emery Wooten '81. She's been a champion for many years and can steer you in a direction that works for both you and Epsilon Beta." All sisters are invited to join in and celebrate our 100 years on campus. "It will be a wonderful evening to reconnect with friends and meet new sisters!" Elizabeth was born and raised in Laurinburg, N.C. She worked in Washington, D.C., on the Senate Committee of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry before returning to Raleigh to work as the assistant executive director of the Museum of History Associates. She and her husband, David Daniel, raised two sons, Robert and David. "I now work under Intracoastal Realty on the Vance Young Team, and Vance's wife, Porter Eskridge Young '87, is one of our Owl Ambassadors!" If you want to connect, send an email to elizmitchdaniel@gmail.com. Margaret grew up in Greenville, N.C., but has lived in Raleigh since 1994. "I worked at St. Mary's for 26 years, 14 of those as the alumnae director. I retired after the 2021 school year." She enjoys attending football and basketball games and going to the beach. "I love a good book and to travel!" You can contact her by email at mcglohonme@gmail.com. Margaret McGlohon '83 (left) and Elizabeth Mitchener Daniel '82 with Hootie. Gili Horwitz | Miami, Fla.
