SPRING 2023 ALABAMA BETA s THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA SIGMA PHI EPSILON Inside Executive Board – p. 2 Congratulations, Graduating Seniors – p. 3 I t was another great year on 304 University Boulevard! Alabama Beta just wrapped up final exams, and most brothers are heading across the country for internships, jobs, travel, and/or spending time at home. Please enjoy this recap of our many events from the last two semesters. NEW LEADERSHIP The new Chapter executive board took over in the middle of October and has been hard at work ever since. In addition to the men listed in the Executive Board article on page 2, freshman Cannon Bosarge '26 was elected as Chief of Staff. STUDYING HARD Our brothers have been hard at work academically. In fall 2022, we had an overall chapter GPA of 3.29 with over 60% of our members either on the president's (4.0+ GPA) or dean's list (3.5+ GPA). Our spring 2023 grade report is only projected to go up. Our commitment to academic excellence has allowed for much success on campus. In April, our Chapter was awarded Most Outstanding Commitment to Member Success out of all IFC Chapters here at UA. CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT Eight brothers were selected to serve as Greek Ambassadors, with eight being the highest number of applicants that have been taken at UA to serve the governing body of the Greek organizations here on campus. Brother Mason Whiteside '25 was elected to serve as director of new member education for the Interfraternity Council, with brother Cody Strubel '26 elected to serve on the new member committee and Walker Parsons '26 on the recruitment committee. Regarding the Student Government Association, Jack Rudder '25 was reelected to serve as senator for the College of Engineering, and Walker Parsons was elected to serve as senator for the Culverhouse College of Business. Alabama Beta's Future Is Bright Academic Accomplishments, Community Service, and More Congratulations to brothers Mason Haller '24, Hughes Thomas '24, and Hunter Wilhelm '24 (left to right) on their induction into the 110th class of the Jason's Senior Men's Honorary. Standing behind them are current seniors Jack Strubel '23 (left) and David Cranz '23, members of the 109th Jason's class (Alex Hall not pictured). On April 14, we partnered with Phi Mu at the SigEp House for Cookout for Kids. This event raised money for our philanthropy partner, Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama. (Continued on page 2)
