F or Abby Berkey '15, joining Delta Gamma felt like coming home. "I immediately felt accepted, just by being myself, which was all I was looking for during recruitment," she says. "Plus, we got Chick-fil-A breakfast on Pref Day, which really sold me!" Looking back, Abby is still proud of Delta Gamma's ability to make every young woman feel welcome. "The Chapter made members feel included, and those with different interests, majors, and from different states could all find their place within the sisterhood." Abby contributed to Beta Kappa by serving as director of intramural sports. This was a perfect fit for her as she was working toward earning a bachelor's degree in sports management with a minor in business. She now puts that degree to use as the director of partnership activation for the Kansas City Current. "I service our top partners by making sure everything in their agreement is being completed throughout the year. I also assist in selling partnerships for the new Kansas City Current stadium, the first stadium for a women's team in the world!" Abby's love for the world of sports began during her time on KU's campus. "I completed an internship with Kansas Athletics, the Kansas City Chiefs, and Sporting Kansas City. After graduation, I started working with the Denver Broncos for about a year and then ended up at Boise State University in partnerships. I accepted the role of manager of partnership activation before being promoted to director after a year." She credits the Chapter with helping her develop a professional network and crucial skills. "Thanks to Delta Gamma, I was able to meet people who helped me connect with individuals in the sports industry who eventually led me to my internships. Recruiting also helped me learn to talk to people and strengthen my interview skills." My name is Christina Mott '11, and I am thrilled to serve as the new House Corporation president. I joined Delta Gamma in fall 2011 as an out-of-state student. I was excited to engage in Greek life and knew from the first day of recruitment that DG was my home. Fast-forward 12 years and Delta Gamma has given me more than I could have ever imagined. I am honored and excited to have been asked to join the House Corporation so I can give back to the Chapter that has given so much to me. This year, our House Corporation has undertaken several exciting projects, including touch-ups to the exterior of the house and landscaping renovations. We are also adding some finishing touches to the side of the house that was renovated a couple years ago. Perhaps the most anticipated project is the addition of a second- floor laundry room. Until this point, all the ladies in the house have shared one laundry room on the third floor. As you can imagine, those washers and dryers get a lot of use with 72 women living in the house! Doubling the number of washers and dryers is going to make a huge difference for the residents. This project has been a dream for quite some time, and we are thrilled to make it a reality! Over the past few years, we have seen so many amazing changes at 1015 Emery Road. If you have not had a chance to stop by, we encourage you to do so! As alumnae, it is important that we rally behind Beta Kappa. We have a responsibility to protect our legacy and uplift future generations of Delta Gammas. As the saying goes, it's not four years, it's for life. Thank you for continuing to make Beta Kappa everything that it is. I found something to be a part of and to anchor my identity in once I wasn't an athlete."
