ΚΔ AT BAMA SHINES BRIGHT T his past year has been full of so many fun and new experiences for our members. I am so proud of Kappa Delta's improvements, encouragements, and accomplishments, and I am honored to lead a Chapter of such confident, impressive young women. I look forward to watching our Chapter grow each semester, and I am beyond thankful for my time as a leader of this sisterhood. Academic Successes Kappa Delta has continued to prioritize academic improvement, resulting in 264 members on the President's and Dean's List last semester! Kappa Delta was ranked above the Panhellenic sorority average with a GPA of 3.53, an improvement from years past. Additionally, at Honor's Day in the spring, many of our members were recognized for their individual achievements. 139 Members Initiated We welcomed 139 new members into our Chapter this year, and we are over the moon to have them in our sisterhood. Our new members have already started to get involved on and off campus, and they represent the values of Kappa Delta in everything they do. I am blessed to have gotten the opportunity to welcome in a group of such genuine and loving women! Game Day Meals Miss Barb and our kitchen staff have worked tirelessly to provide us with amazing game day meals this fall. We have held four meals this semester, each bringing wonderful opportunities for undergraduates and alumnae to spend time together while celebrating Alabama football! We are so lucky to have supportive alumnae, and we know that our Chapter would not be the same without you all. Panhellenic President We are thrilled to announce that Deborah Oberkor '20 has been chosen as Panhellenic President for the 2022-23 school year! Deborah exemplifies the standards of a Kappa Delta in all that she does and is a friend to each member of our Chapter. We could not think of a better candidate to fill this position and cannot wait to watch her shine as a leader of our campus. Congratulations, Deborah—Kappa Delta is proud of you! Looking Forward With the fall semester nearing its end, I am proud of the progress that we have made so far. We are all looking forward to what the rest of the year will bring and will strive to provide the best experiences for each member. I am honored to serve this amazing group of women each day. Kappa Delta will continue to flourish in rich sisterhood, academic excellence, and philanthropic service as we finish up this semester and move to the next. Your support and love mean the world to us! Love in AOT, Nancy Haydel '19 Past Chapter President Sisters Continue to Strive for the Best on Campus Congrats, Deborah! O ver the past year, I have had the opportunity to take part in many fun activities as Kappa Delta's vice president of inclusion! One way we have implemented DEI in our Chapter is through an inclusion newsletter, which serves as a resource to keep our members educated on pressing matters. We have covered topics like Black History Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and International Women's Friendship Month. We have also had speakers attend Chapter meetings to give their perspectives on these topics and encourage participation at on-campus DEI events. In addition, we have provided our members with information on health and wellness resources, such as on- campus counseling, to ensure that they know we, along with UA, are always here for them. Our health and wellness chairman coordinated facials for everyone at midterms as a form of self-care and a way to remind our members to check in on themselves and take a mental break from the stress of school. Other ways we have advocated for mental health this semester include hosting a speaker at the Chapter to talk about Suicide Prevention Week and posting on Instagram for World Mental Health Day. In terms of sisterhood, we have enjoyed so many fun events, including Shamrock Bingo, treats during finals week, and everyone's favorite— a sisterhood costume party! We have had the best time planning and participating in these exciting events, as they serve as excellent opportunities to bring our Chapter close together. Love in AOT, Grace Sherman '19 Vice President of Inclusion Taking Care of Our Sisters Ensuring Members Are Educated and Included
