(Catch a Special Thrill) for Kids Foundation and Pleasure Cove Marina, will host a C.A.S.T. for Kids fishing event at Lake Berryessa on Saturday, Sept. 14. Lake Berryessa is located in Napa County. The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation is a national, non-profit organization whose goal is "to provide disabled or disadvantaged children with the opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor recreational experience through the sport of fishing." The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Berryessa's Pleasure Cove Marina. Each child will receive a fishing pole, tackle box, T-shirt and other prizes and spend the morning fishing with local anglers and volunteers. A free barbeque lunch will be served to participants, parents and volunteers in the afternoon. Pre-registration is required for this event as availability is currently limited to 35 children. Reclamation is seeking anglers and boaters who wish to volunteer their time and use of their boat. To register as a volunteer angler or boater or for more information, please contact Jason Jordan, Outdoor Recreation Planner, at 707-966-2111 ext. 143 or jgjordan@usbr.gov. This C.A.S.T. for Kids event ties into the Department of the Interior's "Let's Move Outside" initiative, http://www.letsmove.gov/le ts-move-outside, which was created to encourage children and their families to enjoy outdoor activities, which abound in every city, town and community. Reclamation also supports President Obama's "America's Great Outdoors" initiative, http://americasgreatoutdoors.gov/, by providing recreational opportunities in the great outdoors, promoting stewardship of our natural resources and reconnecting Americans – especially our young people – with the riches the outdoors has to offer. Individuals who would like to participate in this program and need accommodation should contact Jordan at 707-966-2111 ext. 143 or jgjordan@usbr.gov at least 14 days in advance of the activity. had too much to drink comes up to us with a song request. If the bride and groom took the time to specify the songs they do and don't want to hear, they probably are not going to be happy if we suddenly start playing "The Chicken Dance." One other tip: Talking to us while we are in the middle of a song is not a good idea. Please wait until we are on a break. — Frustrated Bandleader Dear Frustrated: Excellent suggestions, and here's one from us: Can you please not set the amplifiers to 11? We can hear you just fine without going deaf. Dear Annie: I read the thoughtful letter from "Concerned Grandma," who is caring for her biracial 4year-old grandson. Your response left out one of the best role models this child could have: President Barack Obama. Perhaps reading "Dreams from My Father" will give this dear grandmother more insight into the struggles her grandson might face as a fatherless child, as well as hope and inspiration. A photo of our biracial president might be a sweet thing for this little boy to have. In addition, the grandmother might want to seek out someone who can help reinforce and strengthen her as she stands alongside this child in a lifelong learning adventure. — A Daily Reader Drop in sex drive merits doctor visit the condition called endometrioDEAR DOCTOR K: I'm a sis. woman in my 50s. Actors with fake guns bring police with real ones LOS ANGELES (AP) — College filmmakers were using fake guns to shoot a robbery scene at a suburban Los Angeles coffee shop when the movie took a scary twist that wasn't in the script. Eight police officers were descending on the masked actors. The police were real, with very real guns drawn, and had no idea this was a movie. ''Drop the gun! Drop it! Drop it!'' one officer yells on an audio recording police were carrying. One of the actors immediately let go of his fake assault rifle. But another held onto his replica handgun, forcing officers to make a life-or-death choice. An officer knocked the gun from the actor's hand and handcuffed him, drawing a peaceful climax to what could have been something far worse. ''One of the officers made the decision that had the man moved, he would have been killed,'' said Glendora police Capt. Tim Staab. ''It was just milliseconds from a tragedy.'' Police said it showed the dangers of movie-making for amateur film crews who don't get permits and follow proper steps before taking to the streets. ''I can't think of a situation more dangerous than having a gun in your hand with cops responding,'' Staab said. ''It was much closer than we ever want to get close to.'' Attempts to reach the film's director were unsuc- cessful. The students declined to tell police what college they were from. The officers responded to the shop after receiving a 911 call from a woman who reported seeing an armed, masked gunman inside Classic Coffee in Glendora, a suburb east of Los Angeles.
