2 C ole Welp '22 visited the Panama Canal on a KU study abroad program in January 2022, an experience that helped him complete his degree in supply chain management. He will be working in inventory planning and replenishment at Home Depot's headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, this fall. What Cole has to say about his experience: "During my study abroad trip to Panama this past winter, I was able to get an inside look at how the global supply chain operates, specifically at the Panama Canal. Observing what it takes on a daily basis for cargo ships to pass through and how meticulous the preparation must be was quite interesting. On the other hand, what I enjoyed the most was immersing myself into the local culture. From dancing the Tamborito to eating Yucca, I really felt that I was able to experience everything the country had to offer. To truly comprehend what is happening around the globe, in my opinion, one must travel. I'm a huge advocate for visiting other countries, and I think everyone has the ability to gain life lessons and view the world differently. I greatly thank Alpha Nu and the BUTTs Abroad program for this incredible opportunity" Cole Welp '22 Heads to Panama Thanks to BUTTs Abroad A Trip Filled with Career and Life Lessons Cole Welp '22 visits the Panama Canal through the BUTTs Abroad program. During the trip, he gained more knowledge in supply chain management and immersed himself in the culture. T his spring, Brother Tom Ward '80 visited the house for dinner, and for the first time since COVID-19 began, he led wine tasting with the senior class. After chapter dinner, Tom gathered with all 25 members of the senior class. Throughout the evening, he and the brothers shared stories about their experiences at the Hutt. "We appreciate Mr. Ward for coming out and teaching us a thing or two about wine; now I feel more well versed as I go into the real world," shared Matthew Blackford '22. "We were grateful for his generous time, and it was great hearing some stories about the Hutt." After learning more about wine, many of the seniors stayed around to engage in conversation with Mr. Ward. "The wine tasting event with Mr. Ward was a unique opportunity to not only learn more about wine, but also to recognize the extent of fellowship and community the Hutt possesses," said Andrew Truong '22. "He brought charisma to the Hutt this past spring that allowed the senior class to partake in a special event."
